Both choose The Smiths...and manage to choose one of their weaker songs. Hmm...

Otherwise, both lists have good stuff, but tonight I'm choosing A - it just seems a little more coherent and substantial.

A is sticking to it's student roots. It still has a fair slice of goodness, especially when it moves away from the drearily cool monotony of the outsider-canon. B is hopelessly up-and-down, for every Crusaders, Scritti or VU killer there is a stinky XTC or Pixies. But it has much more of an idea of joy and fun, and the Todd tune is the best in either list.

B is generally very splendid indeed. Not much wrong with A other than a lack of pop sparkle, but B it is.

These lists are both "meh." On a related note, both are very white, in largely uninteresting ways. A started out OK, but just hasn't gone anywhere since. I guess I'll go with B, but it shouldn't count on my support for long.

I find list A is more a burnt sienna and B is more of a aqua blue.

A is not necessarily better, but just seems more passionate and less considered.
