Round Three - Then Four and Five.......

Postby Butch Manly » 15 Feb 2010, 19:47

The last R2 matches will go up tomorrow.

If I can get next fives in quickly I can start Round 3 on Thursday evening.

If you're still in it, get your thinking caps on, good brethren.

I'm only posting two matches tonight and then the final two R3 matches tomorrow night. That will spread this round across most of the week and allow for a tidy beginning to R4 this coming Sunday.

I'm aiming to get Round four completed by next Wednesday and then get straight into the Quarter Finals that evening to box that round off by the Friday, though this obviously depends on the remaining competitors having their Next Fives handy and PMd to me a.s.a.p. - something of a concern since some competitors have been a little tardy at times.

Please try to be prompt with your Next Fives, people!

Thanks in advance

Griff

One contestant has failed to get their next five in on time so there will be no match 8 tonight, folks. We'll get through somehow, I'm sure.

Same rules for everybody, surely. Some people got their lists in from Darkest Africa, after all.

Failed to turn up = Walkover?

Agree. They must have been thinking about what to pick next beforehand. After that it's just a bit of typing. Emergencies excepted.

I had my 40 songs lined up from day one. This wouldn't be happening if you all had bothered to recognize the genius of my list.

There is no excuse.

Why does it switch between BCB CUP and LA COPA? ?

LA COPA doesn't stand out as well and I've noticed that a few (well, at least 1 person) have signed in and voted for matches 1 to 4 and presumably has not spotted matches 5 to 7 lurking below.

I demand to know who is holding up round 8 so I can vote against them.

People are often a little late getting their next fives to me. Irritating as that can be, I can usually just bring forward another match to keep things going. When it gets to the final matches of the round though the Cup then gets held up. There is a precedent for announcing a walkover in this situation - it happened last year (or possibly the year before) when Dan (Superdans) defaulted and Lenny went through without having to contest that round.

Seems a shame for the competitor to come this far then fail to show, though. Perhaps there are pressing personal issues going on.

It's annoying cos one of the lists is the one I like the most by far!

I did that yesterday but only because I knew the deadline for the three last matches was only tonight. I don't think anyone visiting the Cup section would miss matches because of their names.

Don't get nervous, Mike. You'll win in the end.

Sadly not. I'm losing in Round 4. Maybe to Mike Boom.

This would not be at all fair. It would suggest that, regardless of anyone's five new selections (including your favoured list), your mind is closed as to the possibility of making a genuine comparison in the next round. Vote by all means, but don't set up proxies.

My mind is not closed, my mind is made up. I have no horses in this race nor any vested interest in any of the remainin participants- I'm just keen to keep voting but because I'm going to a music festival until Tuesday I can't.....

The rest of the lists in my view don't come close to this one and regardless which 5 my Chosen One chooses, it'll handsomely outstrip its competition for mine.

Call the lawyers....
