I like both of these very much, but the sequencing of B clinched it.

Hmm. I didn't expect anyone to pay attention to the sequencing on these lists, although I did somewhat when I put mine together.

I think sequencing shows if someone is really trying, as opposed to just throwing a list together. I voted against another list because the songs were alphabetical. Lazy.

A, I wish every list had some Pixies in it.

For such a canonical list the last 4 entries on B's list are pretty weak. A has some crap too, Pixies, Talking Heads, bad Talk Talk, but it's more excusable in a lowkey selection. Still, the highs on B are high.

Ummm...

I'd rather play A right now, so A.

Another canonist here, so B for me though I like A's list a lot more than most of the others around.
As others have said, the last two (I'd actually say 'three') tracks let it down somewhat but it's still a list I'd happily listen to all the way through.
Bugger off.

Tracks 1 through 7 on B are as good as it gets - then it peters off.

A takes marginally more chances, but outside of the Velvets,a great Iris Dement song and an even better Hollies song...it is pretty middling.

Superstition alone swings it for B - even if the person who sent it in is trying to prove a point.

Don't agree with all the people saying list B peters off, in fact had "Unfinished Sympathy" not been there on the end I might not have voted for it.

What peters off more than an unfinished symphony?
