A is very uneven yet brings superb E, W & F, Bauhaus, Little Feat and Temps but Hal are so slight they're indiscernible, the Cale/Reed is dull and the Carter too sweaty to contemplate. Sabbath and Abba are forever tainted by po-mo irony - perhaps one day I'll be able to listen to them without the grim spectre of Colin Hunt gurning over my shoulder but not right now.

B wavers less and has no indie or metal - right on ! I'd like to listen to most of it, but would perhaps turn the sound down when the Lotus Eaters track was on to avoid askance glances.

B is truly inspired, but how could I possibly vote against a (good) list which includes Lowell George's immortal trucker anthem???

Pretty close - some aces on both - but A has more great stuff for me, Temps, Feat, Bauhaus, ABBA, Pixies, the lovely Hal track and, hell, I even like Lou & John!

List A:

2. Planet Of Sound - Pixies :D
3. Knowing Me Knowing You - ABBA :D (probably one of the only three ABBA songs that rates this high with me)
4. Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus :)
5. Snatchin' It Back - Clarence Carter :)
6. Willin' - Little Feat ;)
7. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Black Sabbath ;)
9. A Dream - Lou Reed / John Cale :o
10. Ball Of Confusion - the Temptations :D

List B:

1 Jimi Hendrix - Ezy Rider :D
3 The Beach Boys - Feel Flows :(
6 Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - California Soul :(
7 Broadcast - Pendulum :(
8 Blind Faith - Can't Find My Way Home
10 Sagittarius - Another Day ;)

A :D great list!

So A has the Sabs, Clarence Carter, Little Feat, ABBA, and Earth Wind and Fire! Right up my street! But B hits heavier more consistently. Sorry, A. It's not personal.

Ooh a tough one. California soul is a song I am a real sucker for so it has to be B for me.
