Just remember. I know where you live.

Yes, but NYC is a big fucking city, and I am already brave enough to walk around it with a Boston Red Sox cap on...

and Kitchens of Distinction are pretty lame imho.

Well, at least you'll be easy to spot.

You didn't like Kitchens of Distinction? Really? What's not to love? I love their guitar sound; they should have been huge, but were lumbered with that stupid name.
It was raining when we drove up the two-lane highway through the long tunnel of trees that led into the black district on the south end of St. Martinville.

I tried KoD when they first came out and then again about five years later... and they never grabbed me. I guess I was expecting more. Stupid name not withstanding.

Too divisive. A good tip is to add the naffest bit of Europop you can find then you'll get a lot of people voting for you saying that your list has a sense of fun and isn't afraid to look uncool. It's worked very well for a few posters both last year and this. Last year Heifer almost made it to the final off the back of Falco! :D

Falco, eh?

*makes notes*

Falco.
Rufus Wainwright.
Duran Duran.
Maximo Park.

2011 is going to be a very, very good year *cackles*

I also took Maximo Park to the 3rd Round 2 years ago. Not to mention Sam Brown in the same list :D

If you can add my solid gold selections with your style, you'll smash all and sundry :D

Whereas I got knocked out in the 1st Round last year with Maximo Park and Glasvegas, and to the 4th Round this year without either.

Bastards. :x

Some benefits of the cup for me:
1. I had fun, natural fun and it took my mind off real life issues that I'm dealing with.
2. Exposed me to great music I hadn't heard before.
3. I like competition and games in general.
4. I enjoyed all the theoretical discussions as to why we vote the way we vote, division lines between Q and Mojo readers, what constitutes a BCB canon, and all the other conjecture.
5. Got me more interested in BCB and BCBers again.
6. Despite losing, it validated my musical tastes via large scale consensus and gave me a real sense of belonging here.
7. I got some fantastic compliments on my list and really enjoyed myself.
8. It was fun! I had a blast.

I nearly made it to the semifinals. Thank you for that -- it was quite a ride. I was excited to be here playing and I had boatloads of fun. So a big fat thank you to everyone for joining and playing and voting and letting me join and vote and play, because I had a blast. Thank you BCB from the cockles of my heart and quite sincerely too.

You pretty much took the words out of my mouth. I played this because of a need for numbers - I had never even looked at this section of the forum before and quite honestly would have been expecting to be laughed out the door for my tastes. So it was quite a morale booster to do as well as I did, despite some mealy-mouthed comments occasionally :?

That all said, not too sure whether I would try this again. Some people take the competition element far too seriously.....
the rat is back - more or less!

Thanks, hon. I feel better.

With Martha, Fartpants and Jung out of the Cup the light has gone out of the competition this year and we are left with "tasteful"

They mainly picked mainstream rock, they were hardly the vanguard!

Though I did like quite a lot of Neil J's list.

There was a preponderance of white men but all three lists were fun rather than worthy, as was Packrat's

Ithankyou. Some of my white men were playing keyboards this year. And there was a girl too.

It's true. I've been staring at myself in the mirror all day.
If you've got nothing to do, don't do it here.
