B wins it for me, as I just knew and liked more songs on that list.

Each added a real favourite (Roxy & Rafi), and on the whole it remains pretty even.

I'll have a good look again tonight.

Looking over B I still don't see anything that isn't an officially-approved BCB canon classic. It's been far too worthy and safe all the way through.
However, it is mostly good, and I can't say the same for A - that horrible Faith No More track still threatens to sink it. But on closer inspection, the majority of A's more quirky and individual choices work - and that propels it over the finish line.

It is really really sad to see how conspicuously this competition has suffered from my absence this year.
Nothing whatsoever wrong with B, but that is its problem, it all sort of blands out with its great, but overall uninspiring content. When I first glanced at the lists by artist, in fact, B was the easy winner, but when I looked more closely I just couldn't get that excited by it while the individual song choices on A felt far more adventurous and uplifting. Plus B has the horror of the Smiths which just proves that the otherwise fine selection is pure luck rather than sound judgement. A clearly has my record collection and though they have not picked ths strongest songs from it they still get my vote.

It is worth noting that A has included a Baron Certified Million $$$$ Jam as the last tune, and the first 10 or so are very strong indeed. But A is much, much more consistent for me and went out with a bang - the last 10 or so are near perfect.

B

EDIT: I've read the thread and there is much praise for A "casting a wider net" and I agree, but it comes at a price in my view. There are mediocrities and other things that I just don't know. With some lists, I'll be inclined to give the benefit of the doubt with respect to what I don't know given the other selections, but the broader list doesn't inspire confidence.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
