B plays catchup with the new 5, but is too slow to catch A

Bizarre Bunnymen and Clash selections from B, they're not terrible songs but they're not particularly remarkable either. A goes for three bankers in Budd, The Teardrops and Martha Reeves. Not particularly adventurous perhaps, but then you're not going to get adventure in the semis so you can only really look to how good the tracks are and these are very good.
A is just stronger overall anyway, more moments of joy and greater grooves, B certainly has its moments though.

A lost me. And "Thrasher" trumps.

The Spoon and Big Star choices have carried that list through a few rounds but I need something in the more recent picks to give my vote at this stage. The other list I think is just has more big tracks spread across its full length. The picks are not as adventurous or original (which is B's strength), but the list certainly isn't BCB Cup by numbers either.

Both pretty much evenly matched but A has a few of my favorite songs on it.

That was pretty much the clincher for me, plus the sheer chutzpah of including both Thunderclap Newman and Mr Bloe !!

These lists are both lucky they didn't get paired against either list in the other Semi Final round.

I'll decide later.

Two fair to middling lists but A wins the battle of the new 5. And that mighty Bill Withers track is still holding it aloft.

A is picking some good songs, but needs 5 killers for the final.

B it is. 'I Can See For Miles', 'Watch the Sunrise', 'Marquee Moon' and 'Something in the Air' are faultless tracks and I quite like his Damned, Spoon, Mott and Echo picks. A picks several tracks I like and enjoy - The Temptations, The Specials, The Dirtbombs (I was thrilled to see them in this competition but this isn't quite the track I would have picked) and The Vandellas - 'Reward' is probably the only one I would put on a list of my own.
