A's new five err distinctly on the side of dull conservatism.
Mind you, a lot of B is either boring or bollocks and A has plenty of nice picks earlier on.

Awful thing when that happens. I had a similar experience at a Tom Jones concert.

I picked that particular Them track for my list last year and the Beta Band the year before. Did it do me any good? Did it fuck.
Plus extrordinary picks by Timebox and The Tempts almost sway me for A but look at B's picks. Blank Generation, Tighten Up and Stop Me are too good to turn down.
I run out of talent

This probably should've been the final. I'm going to have to give this some consideration.

I'll have to stick with B as well.

It's A, a decision made easier by an underwhelming five from B. A's got a really vital, exciting vibe I think.

B, because nobody (I think) deserves to win twice.
If you've got nothing to do, don't do it here.

B

really good extra five. Maybe Blank generation is a bit canon, but it's earned it. Everyday. Marvellous.

Both lists could have done with a few more modern tracks. As it stands:

Tough call. The two best lists left in the competition so far. So anyway, here's the clinchers for both.

List A:

Arcade Fire - Neighbourhood #1 (Tunnels) link
The Byrds - Lady Friend link
William Bell - I Forgot To Be Your Lover link
James Brown - Superbad link
The Beastie Boys - So What'cha Want link

The Flamingoes - I Only Have Eyes For You link
Curtis Mayfield - Beautiful Brother Of Mine link
Prince - Sometimes It Snows In April link
The Stooges - I Got A Right link
The Buzz - You're Holding Me Down link
The Smashing Pumpkins - 1979 link
Funkadelic - Cosmic Slop link
Them - I Can Only Give You Everything link
Timebox - Girl, Don't Make Me Wait link
The Temptations - Psychedelic Shack link
Public Enemy - Rebel Without A Pause link

I Want to Take You Higher - Sly & The Family Stone
Union City Blue - Blondie
What Goes On - The Velvet Underground

I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself - Dusty Springfield
Love Hangover - Diana Ross
(I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea - Elvis Costello & The Attractions

Pop Life - Prince

20th Century Boy - T.Rex

Oh jeez. This is too hard. I'll come back to this one shortly.

EDIT: Okay, I've mulled it over and it's with a very heavy heart I'm voting for A, because B is the second-best list in the competition. What's the difference? Well, partly the coin I tossed, and partly because I really want to see what A is coming up with next, because it's all over the shop, grooves and songwise, but somehow mostly picks the right ones. But the trouble is, B is very good too, and there's many of my favourites there. As I said, this should have been the final.
