Dr Modernist wrote:A has won a lot of my support on its intitial choices but I can't help but see that it's getting worse with each round. I should love a five that has Traffic and Freda Payne, but neither are among my favourite songs of theirs (the Traffic song has a great instrumental bit, but the song itself is fairly bland by their standards). B is beginning to take a few more risks, not before time, and deserves this on the strength of "Baby I Love You" and Holy Thursday".

B

Yeah, there's a lot of good stuff on B, but it is a bit- dare I say it- "BCB canon". There's no real surprises or changes in mood despite the overall quality of the list. Still the quality is there, and A is fine too, but maybe it's down to the songs in this round. I'll go with B- for the moment- though I might change it later on.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

B

Really can't argue with any of the selections. Who cares about the familiarity when the songs stand up?

Very close this one. More variety tips the balance.

Very close this one. Too much variety tips the balance.

A toughy. A fair few I really like on both - great picks for Air, XTC, Bob Marley, Traffic and a unusual but fun Can track on A and Can (again), Floyd, The Who, Gary Numan, Magazine and Neil Young on B. Several tracks on both lists have been on my own unsuccessful lists in the past.

A by the tiniest of margins.

I think B is getting better all the time. A, for me, is ever decreasing circles. Hell, Holy Thursday, I Believe In You and Baby I Love You pick themselves.

Much to enjoy on both lists but a great new 5 from A give it the nod.

B with another fine new 5 - although not quite the knockout punch of last round's. I'm expecting this list to take it all.

A, though it's gone a bit stale there. Still, the first two thirds or so? Damn.
