I think I'd have preferred B to A in round 1 but some lists seem to come into their own as they grow whilst others seem to fade away a little and that's what's happening here. Still, close though - two very good lists.

A, nonetheless.

B is an enigmatic and challenging list. A was obviously compiled by a committee of BCB Big Knobs. Unfortunately it's a great list.

I keep wanting to vote for B's list, but it's had the consistent misfortune to keep coming up against lists with more stuff that I like.

B deserves credit for some fascinating new selections. Everyone knows The Cure and Prince, but how many would claim that these artists are best represented by selections from The Top and Graffiti Bridge. They're both good songs, but, actually, both artists have better moments on other albums. Still a good list - 'The Old Man's Back Again' is heartstoppingly good.

A is perhaps safer, but it's so sure-footed. And 'The Light Pours Out Of Me' is one of the five greatest songs ever recorded. Probably.

A, then.

B because I find it a just a bit more daring. The songs I really enjoy in A are all relatively safe. Some of them in B are just bonkers.

A has lots that I actually know and like. A rare thing in the BCB cup.

Can't fault any of the individual choices on A. Against a stronger list though it's lack of breadth might be its undoing. That said, looking at the lists left in the competition this might well end up being the winner.

B

A. The choice of the Cure song in B is definitely an interesting one, but not enough to sway me.

Yes, I'm also torn between rewarding A, for a belting but totally contained and limited list, or B for something much more hit-and-miss which nevertheless has scrappy charm.

I'd be full of shit if I voted B.
