Any list that goes from "99 Problems" to "Double Shot (of My Baby's Love)" knows where it's at, really. It's a bit of a mess, but it also puts in good Prince, Marvin and Mott tracks to sweeten the deal. B it is.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

Both very mixed batches, but just for the pleasure of voting against a list starting with The Fall:

Incidentally, this can't go unremarked upon:

Harvey K-Tel wrote:How either of those piles of shite made it this far is mind boggling.

So this is a collective 'pile of shit'?:

Buddy Holly - It Doesn't Matter Any More
The Pretty Things - Talkin' About the Good Times
The Who - I Can See For Miles/Armenia City in the Sky
Big Star - Watch The Sunrise
Mott the Hoople - I Wish I Was Your Mother
The Damned - Neat Neat Neat
Wire - The 15th
Subway Sect - Nobody's Scared
Pere Ubu - Final Solution
Eddie and the Hotrods - Do Anything You Wanna Do
Television - Marquee Moon
Buzzcocks - I Believe
Echo And The Bunnymen - Villier's Terrace

My mind cartwheels at the sort of music you must listen to that it could withstand the removal from music history of all of the above?

What sort of hellish alliance spawned a person who could dub such richness 'a pile of shite'?

Oh. I see a junior common room bar, 1979, literally everyone is enjoying the above songs via a cassette player hooked up through the sound system, apart from two disaffected individuals:

He (Third year Geography, rowing team, long hair, denims): This music is utter, utter shite - who chooses this bollocks? I saw Jeff Beck at Hammersmith the other week. Who do think is the best drummer, Carl Palmer or Alan White?

She (First year Sociology, shocking pink hair, ultra-mini, candy stripe tights, copy of Julie Burchill's The Boy Looked At Johnny under her arm): This is just old crap my grandad likes, and then musicians who betrayed themselves and us fans, it has no true dialectic whatsoever. So you like The Raincoats, then?

He: I have a bottle of Southern Comfort in my room...
We owe so much

Wow. A was doing ok, with the Wire, James Carr, Ladyton... now its bit the goth disco suicide pill big time. B's not convincingly my thing either but it never went full Skinny Puppy, as it will now be known.

Both extraordinarily mixed bags. A. For Chapterhouse, I guess?
