B gets it this time. It's nothing spectacular, mind.

I'm beginning to wonder if people are being 'true' with their selections. I just get a feeling that people are torn between choosing what they really love, and what will really appeal. That might account for the nature of a couple of these lists, which are a little odd in places. I mean, with all respect, who the fuck would choose 'Session Man' as a Kinks' fave?

Pretty much of a no-brainer here. Easy choice.

It's damning it with faint praise, I suppose, but B might be the best one remaining. It's nothing so great, and it plays it safe, but at least it's all pretty good, not overly hippified, and there's some diversity.

Both lists are bullshit.

A close run tie here. A is pleasingly eclectic, not all its selections work and there's a little too much indie ordinaire, but there are enough bright sparks to make it interesting.
B is perhaps a little less adventurous than it may appear at first glance. The Source track has become one of the few house tracks it's acceptable to pick in this competition and elsewhere it kind of goes for the obvious picks you'd expect from the acts in question. That said I prefer its musical mix to A and it is more consistent. Furthermore it picks a song in its five that I really love......perhaps somewhat improbably this is The James Gang track which I discovered on Jon Savage's 1970 comp a few years ago and which since has become a firm favourite.

If only you hadn't been so persuasive in arguing people should go down the populist route earlier in the competition John. ;) :P

I suppose B is about as interesting as it's going to get at this stage of the competition. A list with some genuinely intriguing selections, although it does plod somewhat in the middle. A makes little effort to get out of the predictable alt-canon rut and is comfortably beaten here.

Despite my fairly vast but stylistically limited collection, I can only be certain that I really like one track across both lists. It is in A

There are a few I know and don't like much!
