Edit: This has been troubling me, I may have been too quick with my vote here. A is certainly more consistent and I prefer its mix of grooves and melodies, so notwithstanding a couple of really good picks from B, I'm going to have to change my vote. Apologies to B.

Radiohead and Muse are own goals

Is William Bell getting royalties out of BCB Cup selections? At least it's a different song this time. Actually both lists have highs and lows, so I'm looking for a sublime pop moment, and B swings it with Muse - a great transposition of mutated Prince-style funk to a modern prog-metal context. It will upset any purist music lover, and that's all part of the fun.

Another toughie. A's list is classy, in the best sense. B has higher highs ('Frenzy', 'Superstition', 'Sunflower', 'Heatwave') but some godawful dreck (Radiohead, Muse, Cocteaus).

I'm giving it to B, but it doesn't deserve to go any further than this.

A gets my vote because it doesn't have Radiohead, Muse, Cocteau Twins or Paul fuckin' Weller on it.
If you've got nothing to do, don't do it here.

B has at least 2 tracks that are in contention for a Round 2 pick. A is a bit meh.

I have nothing aginst Weller or the Cocteaus, but I do get an "anti" knee jerk reaction whenever I see radiohead on a list. There's enough good stuff on A in any case.

It's Soul Nite in the Cup. And A has the more interesting choices.

B has some great ones too but it's uneven. Screamin' Jay with Radiohead? Come on

Has anyone used Curate's egg this year yet - if not let me be the first to use it to describe B.

I'm still voting for it - B

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
