It breaks my heart to vote against Shipbuilding, Father's Name Was Dad and Funkadelic, but they can't compete with these

"I Forgot To Be Your Lover" - William Bell *
"I Saw The Light" - Todd Rundgren
"Distant Sun" - Crowded House
"Here Comes The Flood" - Peter Gabriel (album version) **
"Rainy Season" - Aztec Camera

Especially finishing with the splendid opening track of the oft-overlooked Frestonia makes me go WOW.

* incidentally, that's where the author should have added, "caution: shit live version"

** I suppose this means the version from PG 1, not the bleaker one from Fripp's Exposure.

Anyway, absolutely A all the way.

Davey the Fat Boy wrote:I like both of these lists, though the great "I Forgot to be Your Lover" is becoming a bit of a BCB cup cliche.

It is worth pointing out here, as these lists were all in prior to commencement- or very nearly- the frequency of any one particular track isn't 'copycat' decision making. I suggest this particular choice may be because it appears on the "Southern Soul" comp that so many bought & raved about?

Should a track from the original lists start appearing on lists in round 2, that would be copycat stuff.

...Or "Public Image", "Memories" or "Death Disco" for that matter. Still, B is mostly solid and enjoyable, and it takes out this one despite some good picks from A. "Father's Name Was Dad" is the best thing on both lists though.

I don't know enough of the first list, and the second one has the immortal "Father's Name Was Dad" on it, so it wins.

How can anyone not like "Fathers Name Was Dad" ?

He's giving them poor scores because they aren't some arcane, heard-it-a-million-times-before, and-they're-not-on-vinyl, crap.

In that case, Marcel Strong will dominate the finals!
