Geno - Dexy's Midnight Runners
Maggie May - Rod Stewart
Electricity - Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band
Art-i-ficial - X-Ray Spex

You see this is tough. Knowing which list is which makes it difficult, because the lists attached, like Penk, would mean actually voting against the list I voted for in "the final." So "A" has great Roxy, Aretha (just put that track on a BCB Mix this month) and Bowie choices, while the Strawberry Alarm Clock and Supergrass choices are solid, while "B" has good Dexy's, Suicide and X-Ray Spex choices, with the Rod being one of his most perennial and the Beefheart being one of his most enjoyably unhinged. It's close, but A just fits better, even if the original list wasn't as good.
A tough choice. I'll get back to it!

Edit: upon looking at whodathunkit's eminently reasonable rationalisation, I have decided to go with the best of the lists above. And I'm afraid to say it's A. A fine late rally , but you've got to feel sorry for the other list, too.

Wow, this was the tightest BCB Cup yet!

B

It's been years since I heard Maggie May, and this forced me to listen to it - it's great, and the entire album is great.

Yes, I understand my voting method is slightly arbitrary.

This is far tougher than voting with the full lists and I run a real risk of no voting against my favourite list of the whole competition, which isn't really fair.
There isn't a bad song on either list, though there are some overfamiliar ones and B is probably more guilty of this than A, though balances it rather beautifully with Beefheart and Suicide. The biggest problem with B is the X-Ray Spex song. You see, I have this on vinyl and it has a scratch in it and it gets stuck and, much as I adore the band, the novelty of Polly Styrene's screeching wears off pretty quickly when your stylus is stuck and you're so monged you can't get up and move it. I can't help thinking that B should have known this and altered his song choice accordingly.
List A, I can't find anything wrong with at all, all super tracks from stellar artists. It wins - sorry B - just for being that bit more fresh to my jaded Monday morning palour I guess and for not having Art-i-ficial. Any other A-Ray Spex song would probably have swung it the other way, but on such small judgements do finals turn.

Sorry folks but since when has a ref made allowances in a penalty shoot-out because the team played well in the previous 120 minutes. It's all down to these 10 tracks. That's your lot!

But since when has a team been allowed to pick five entirely new players for a penalty shoot-out?

Not particularly inspired by either, but based solely on the new fives, I'm going to have to go for A.

Once again, I only know 3 out of the ten tunes.

I don't feel great about voting for a list with Supergrass in but Maggie May is so abysmal the decision is virtually made for me.

'A' seems to be walking it, eh? I thought, after the unprecedented tie, this'd be closer.
