I pointed that out in round 1 but still no change. Another defeat for pedantry.

A smashing new 5 from A puts it's nose well out in front.

A has a fantastic new 5 and appears to be all but unstoppable.

I think we're looking at the new cup winner.

:o List A in 'Five New Songs All By White Rock Bands' shocker!!!!

B is far from being a fantastic, cup-winning list, but it has personality and energy, and at least it is not the musical equivalent of a great big potato. The boredom of listening to that much safe, stodgy, canonical guitar rock would surely be enough to make anyone want to beat their own face in with a blunt instrument. Possibly the BCB Cup itself.

So what if A knocked me out and I'm bitter? Doesn't mean it isn't still true. :D

It seems bizarre that B has continued along its merry way, not least because there have been better lists that were knocked out much earlier, but still you can't deny its verve and pizazz, and there is a lot of good stuff on there, and the new additions- one of Dylan's finest, most generous songs, a good Gobies choice, and nice stuff from the Elgins and Etta James, add to the overall feel of it.

It's B, but really, a dark horse if ever there were one. A has some great picks from the Verlaines, Neu!, Rolling Stones and a whole lotta other classics, but by the end, y'know, I'd just rather listen to B, if that makes sense.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

Tough choice this as I've supported both lists in earlier rounds so I struggle to separate them before the additional 5s.

In terms of the additional 5s, A has a great Eno choice (it wan in my own list a couple of years ago) and Ghost Town's excellent too. I fail to understand the love for Apple venus era XTC though. B has a solid Go-Betweens pick and great Etta James and Dylan choices. Nothing to choose between them in terms of the additional 5s either.

It comes down to one list picking tracks covering a broader stylistic range.

A has been my favourite list since Round 2 and with the latest additions it just got better.

When we get to the semi-final stage, all the lists are going to be largely excellent, as is the case here. That makes the decision much harder and, ultimately, down to gut-feel and vibe. On that front, I take B to be the winner - it just rolls better. A is good, though.

A's new 5 are much better then B's, but in the end B is still the better list.

Damn close, a tough call. I figure it's A by the merest hair. The newest five is the difference.
