A

I think I might have voted against this list twice already but it seems to be picking up momentum. Also, the more I look at it, the more I like.

I love A. It really succeeds in picking funky leftfield choices which stop short of the esoteric. It's earned the right to pull out a big-hitter like 'What Goes On'.

Not much to get excited about on either of these lists, not as bad as match 2 but not gripping stuff.

A barely raises a flicker of interest over 20 songs, I wouldn't mind listening to Neat Neat Neat because it has a bit of energy, unlike much else on there.

B wins by default although it isn't greatly better. But I would gladly listen to Israelites, Pretty Persuasion, Mathilda Mother or Mr Pitiful any time.

I like both lists here. But B has just that extra something to put it over the top.

B is looking very very strong now. No reservations on this one. Sorry A, but B wins

A real toughie here. Both lists nicely textured, both show a real love of melody and groove with the lesser tracks being magnificent failures rather then wrong headed misjudgements. B has wonderful Beefheart,Bowie,Dekker,Byrds,REM,Nilsson,Modern Lovers,Scott Walker and Golliwogs. A, ah list A we meet at last. So what is it that is so controversial about it? A mixture of pop, rock, soul and funk from the 60's,70's,80's and 90's- outrageous behaviour. The addition of the best VU and Tricky tracks, the wild Crabby Appleton and the push and pull of the Odyssey show take it over the finish line, esp when in the fine company of prime Damned,23rd Turnoff,Curtis, best ever Hendrix,Stones, and Lou Reed. Really we're spoilt with the internet, I knew 27 of these songs ( i've been listening to music seriously for 25 years :o ) and most of the 'obscure' tracks in either list are available with a little searching and many have been flagged up and discussed before on YY.

Both lists were strong to begin, but I think B edges it with the new five..
