Excellent lists - real bundles of joys, clearly put together by fans who still get excited by music and have reasonably broad tastes, without this making the lists appear random or aiming to please all comers.

It's so tight! I'll take each list apart, a little - while I'm doing so, it might help me decide.

A has one of my very favourite Soft Boys tracks, the beautiful Durutti Column tune, and tremendous Nazz, Clean, Roxy and Funkadelic numbers. All of these could well have made my own list.

Then there's the unfathomably well-liked 'Pablo Picasso', and rather dull Triffids and Young Marble Giants songs, which take the shine off a little for me.

B looks more interesting at a glance, somehow - with stupendous Blues Magoos, Can, Curtis, Monkees, and SAHB tracks. And that glorious Rotary Connection number - this stuff scales the heights. That E Types thing I seem to recall from a vinyl Nuggets I owned in the '80s.

There's nothing in B's list that looks unpleasant to me.

Ah, fuck, it seems a little unfair. I think it has to be B tho'.

A

I'm came pretty close to abstaining because they're both evenly matched. In the end, I think I'd like to listen to A just a tad more. Both lists are a lot of fun though.

Yeah I suppose it's inevitable that you'll get two really great lists drawn together at this stage, even so it's a shame one of them has to go.

Heavyweight lists but I think B just about, for reasons I can't really fathom myself.

These are the two best lists of the remaining 8 IMHO. Shame they're drawn together. I would like to see more concessions to the fact that music does exist in the Noughties though.

B's got 2 smashing songs that are also on my March mix club CD (Brandy, Chuck Brown), so you rock.

Credit to A though, you don't really deserve to go out with your solid choices. I especially like the VOEH/Roxy/Darondo/Loose Joints combo. Heck I should probably be voting for you.

If radio stations were like these lists (with more current songs) the world would be a better place.

2 chronic lists, how did this guff make it so far?

It boils down to Pablo Picasso vs Strychnine.

A win for A but the man don't give a fuck, I'd have taken both in match A over these.
