A's great in the middle and lukewarm at either end.

B wins this for me by a small margin, with more barmy joys.

Both patchy with a few diamonds; A has a few more of those.

Definitely A on this one. I've just realised that they've picked one of my all time favourite Stax songs in 'I'll Run Your Hurt Away'. And the new 5 keeps up the pace.

Both decent lists - but I prefer A's new ones and that takes it above B.

2 pretty good lists. A gets thumbsup for SFA, Clash, Fall, All Saints, Supremes, James Brown, Gene Vincent, and New rder. B gets the thumbs up for Shelley, Mazzy Star, Bouncing babies, BOC and Wire.

And while B has my favourite song on either list in Bouncing Babies and also a BOC number which really makes me want to get behind it it has to be length before strength so an hard fought victory for A.

B. A has slightly higher highs but B has more of them.

I don't like either of them completely - but A looks like the more fun list. So A.
Of course, I was mostly stoned at the time.

B has now inserted two of my favourite songs of all time, into a list that already includes about half my favourite bands. Yet there is still something about it that threatens to upset my genteel and delicately educated disposition, a bit like when Carruthers brings me a quail that has not been hung for long enough or Lady G is expecting me to prostate myself on her front-botty when it is less than pristinely clean, as sometimes is the case if she has not had the servants change her corsets for a few days. It is the sort of list that might be assembled by one of the beaters on the estate, the sort of ill-educated cove who it is one's great pleasure to accidentally shoot in his ample buttocks just to watch the fella leap into the air with alarm and to hear his coarse screaming. You know the sort of chap: in his mind for all the world convinced that he has risen above his station and is somewhat akin to Lawrence's Mellors, but sadly is really rather more close to John Major's Mellor.
