Both good but not great. A has a couple of real gems to see it through.

Tough one. B's chosen a smashing Cardigans song (which I'd planned to use in mine), as well as excellent ones by Roxy, Them, Modern Lovers, JD, and Beefheart. But the rest fails to grab me, really.

Ais solid all-round, and has around four utterly outstanding numbers, just the stuff at the very top of the very top of the pile, stuff that really excites. That's what it's all about. I'll even forgive them the Camera Obscura and GBV nonsense.

These 2 aren't my favourites but are very close.

It comes down which pick is particularly inspired and the answer is that Camera Obscura nonsense. Marvellous song and one which very nearly graced my list.

Another really, really tough call. B has several songs I love, but the addition of the Cardigans and Brendan Benson has me scratching my head- not feeling the love for either. A on the other hand has a great new 5, and not a single dubious selection. Wish it was richer in new stuff, but it's still my pick. Barely.

"Whispering Pines" is one of the more inspired choices of the cup so far, though. I wish I could vote for both.

It's a splendid song, towers over everything else they've done.

You'd hate it, though.

Both lists are good, but I'm leaning towards B - that's a great Siouxsie & the Banshees track!

Tough, tough decision. I managed to squeeze the lists down to 4 tracks each but I can't choose between the two -

List A:

Marmalade- I See The Rain
New Rotary Connection- I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun
The Monkees- Porpoise Song
The Box Tops- Cry Like A Baby

List B:

Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology) - Marvin Gaye
Love, Reign O'er Me - The Who
Scattered Black And Whites - Elbow
Prairie Rose - Roxy Music

I'm going to bite my lip and give A the vote using The Isley Bros and The Damned tracks as the deciders.

Neither particularly catch me, but I'll for A, mainly for Can and Curtis

A initially seems more promising but I'm gonna wait till I'm free to check out the youtube links before confirming.
