I agree that A is too textbook, but it gets most of its sums right.

A seems a bit self-consciously serious. Plenty to enjoy, but full of the type of slightly dated, music-paper endorsed paranoid beats the middle aged men of BCB allow themselves to enjoy to show the're, y'know, with it :). B is where the real energy is Curtis, Jimi, Damned ,Stones. All the choices don't come off for me but this stuff isn't difficult and deserves a wider audience

Rather fortuitously the Duke Of Burlington track has appeared on one of monthly mix club CDs - what a remarkable co-incidence.

Joy Division - Transmission
Magazine - Shot By Both Sides
Associates - Party Fears Two
LCD Soundsystem - Losing My Edge
Massive Attack - Karmacoma
DJ Shadow - Midnight In A Perfect World
Serge Gainsbourg - Melody
Sly & the Family Stone - Thank You For Talking To Me Africa
My Bloody Valentine - Only Shallow
John Cooper Clarke - Beasley Street
Junior Byles - Fade Away
Cabaret Voltaire - Sensoria
Pulp - The Fear
Hot Chip - Over & Over
Orange Juice - Blue Boy

A kinda loses its way near the end- though the Cabaret Voltaire track was strong enough in itself to justify the next 5, and that's a fun song by Hot Chip. But its first 10 were already very solid, and that's enough in this case.

EDIT

Actually I've looked at list B and I might well have to rethink my choice! Expect this to go over some serious vote-tallying- it's closer than I thought!

Okay, I"m going for A- but it's with a very heavy heart. Sorry B :-(

I was a wee bit critical of A in the first round, I think. Difficult to remember why, though. Its talking to me, Africa. Must be something to do with being in the middle aged men of BCB camp. As for B, its definitely a cool brew and I'd like to see more... but its a win for

I think A on this one because I really like it, and a vote for B would be a vote for my best mate's cool older brother rather than my best mate.

A all hits the same notes but you wouldn't complain while listening to it.

I think B would be more fun to listen to and even better if it replaced the horrible Stones with A's Hot Chip track.

B is still one of my favorite lists and comes through with some great stuff on the next 5 (though I'm not sold on all of them).
