Looking at these two lists tonight, I feel that both have things to offer, yet somehow fail to give an overall feeling that they are genuine contenders. A just makes too many errors in its main body (does anyone still listen to The Strokes? Rarely has a band's stock fallen so far once their shortcomings were exposed...). However, Stina Nordenstam and Talking Heads supply good back-up. I think I liked B in the first round, but somehow it's not really working for me tonight. Good songs certainly, but only a few real stand-outs.

The solidity of B is still enough to secure my vote, mind.

Funny, I was going to say the same thing about A.

As much as I like the Donna Summer and Gang of Four picks, there's just too much on B that I find dull. Whereas A makes good new and old picks.

I quite like B. Not a great list, but it has a certain je ne sais quoi that just about scrapes it through here.

A has a uniform dullness whereas B is a lot more up and down. Uptight still dwarfs everything else on both lists so:-

B it is

Am I the only that thinks there's some great artists, but absolutely appalling songs?

B, but only because i dislike it slightly less.

And they're pounding out messages loud on the drum

Stevie Wonder - Uptight (Everything's Alright)
Sly & The Family Stone - Jane Is A Groupee
Panda Bear - Take Pills
LCD Soundsystem - Losing My Edge
Super Furry Animals - Hermann Lvs Pauline
Pulp - Do You Remember The First Time?
Kinks - Village Green Preservation Society
Buzzcocks - Orgasm Addict
Wire - Ex Lion Tamer
Aphex Twin - Come To Daddy
Boards Of Canada - Roygbiv
Donna Summer - I Feel Love
Gang Of Four - At Home He's A Tourist
Pavement - Summer Babe
Bob Dylan & The Band - Goin' To Acapulco

B is a mixture of king-hitters and quioxitic choices, but despite that, there's too much to love here- from one of Wire's finest, LCD's withering "Losing My Edge," Donna Summer's timelessy sensual "I Feel Love" and Stevie Wonder's "Uptight." It's all over the place, but you've got to give it credit for that too, I suppose.

B
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

Still have a few reservations about B but it remains the one to beat here. Nice Boards of Canada choice as well.

The trio of Donna Summer, Gang of Four and Pavement, whilst not being the most original picks, are undeniably great and that's enough in this one.
