A really tough call this one and I sense it's a battle of the generations. I though A was a bit dreary last time around but the Abba and Propoganda certainly add a bit of fun to counter that. On the flip side I want to appear young and trendy and the reggae tracks in particular are in B's favour.

Better pass me the pipe and slippers.

A for me. Somehow it looks all round stronger for the additions.

A very good extra 5 for both lists. For the new 5, B has the Mingus, Marvin and unheralded Go-Betweens choice, Paragons and Pere Ubu, A's more exciting with the Propaganda and QOTSA, but it's all pretty neck and neck, and I think B holds out with a little more spike and extra variety overall.

But a worthy matcup- both could go either way, and both deserve to. But there can be only one in this case, and it's B.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

I think I prefer A's extra 5, but overall, B takes it

Two rather fantastic lists which really hit home with me even though they're really quite different in tone. In the end I homed in on the tracks that really mean a lot to me:

List A:

"Richard III" - Supergrass
"Hey, Mona Lisa" - The Mighty Wah!
"We Could Send Letters" - Aztec Camera
"Lately I've Let Things Slide" - Nick Lowe
"Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)" - Marvin Gaye.
"The Winner Takes It All" - Abba

List B:

Ann Peebles- I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down
The Shangri-Las- Out in the Streets
The Stooges- Down on the Street
The Orb- Little Fluffy Clouds
Charles Mingus- Better Git It in Your Soul

..and I had to go for A, albeit with a very heavy heart. King Solomon, he never lived round here.

I'd have voted for you against so many other lists, B. :(

Neither's knocking me out. A on the strength of the Cooder and Harrison tracks.

Both lists I'd be happy to see go though. The first is pleasantly unafraid of pop. I'm a bit concerned that I'm voting against A as I'd probably prefer listening to it more often than now. Maybe it's that Costello (shite) and Bahcarach (godehead) duet versus the stellar Pere Ubu that 's ultimately making me swing to

Very close thing.

Supergrass + Harrison + Aztec Camera + Marvin + Zombies + QOTSA + Propaganda (forgot all about that)

against

Ann Peebles + Shangri-las + Warren G + Stooges + Stereolab + Marvin + Pere Ubu

At the moment id rather listen to B

A 42 points all draw, both have 2 10s, only a got a ten in the second 5, B got nul point for his second 5 nothing of any interest at all.

So Aztec Camera and QOTSA play Orb and Stereo Lab

I'll give it to B for French Disko which is the best song on either list

Apart from being a very nice list that has a few favorites of mine it has the singular virtue of not containing an Abba track.
