Any list with Drake, Husker Du, Magazine, Sandy Denny and The Pixies is fine by me

I agree with Carlsson! It's B for me, and fairly comfortably at that.

A starts strongly but then falls away somewhat. B is slightly weaker at first but gains momentum as you go through the list. for me it adds up to a very close one but the impressions, beat, karen dalton, gene clark, marvin gaye and shangri-las, along with a fabulous go-betweens pick, just about win this one for A, despite B's obvious quality (and randy bloody newman in A's list). sorry, B.

B but really not very much in it at all.

Both lists are quite hard to separate otherwise as they're both eclectic in similar ways.
A gets it right more often than not, and even when it doesn't -the rather ordinary jazz-funk of the EWF track for example, it's going for the right kind of thing. It's certainly something I'd like to hear as a comp.
B is quite assured as well, though narrower in scope. I prefer A's addtional five I think, but it is close.
I'll go for A

I think I said it in a previous round and there's nothing here to make me change my mind - A is decent but just so weedy.
B is hardly perfect, but it gets my vote here.

Even with the bonus points A deserves for being adventurous, B takes it. Better Must Come (a song that made my reggae expert ex-flatmate curl his lip snobbishly) is the icing on the ackee!

Two very, very strong lists and they could have beaten many of the others had they not gone up against each other.

Ever so close.

Phew, close one - two great lists. Pen and paper job. My patented scoring system, whose details I wont bore you with, just gives it to A overall. And as A contains a David Ackles track that seems fair enough.
