The Mighty Giraffe! wrote:both lists have some great selections and perhaps some slightly misguided ones (wrong selections from great artists, etc but then, hey, that's what it's all about. it would be a dull world, etc...) but i like a few more on B and it seems a bit braver.

Yeah it does and it is, which is why I might go back and change my vote. This really is unfair, actually- neither deserve to be knocked out in the first round.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

B it is, Nick Cave's gorgeous ditty sneaks it. Although both these lists could've used a New Noise to excite things up a shade.

I'll take the classic canon pop over a more willfully eclectic list when that means swallowing Nick Cave, Bob Dylan, and Ella Fitzgerald in one go (and a boring Toots tune).

Another thriller

A 27 points with 5s for the supremes and the buzzcocks and a four junior Murvin

B 26 points with a five for The Maytals and 4s for Blondie and Bob Marley ( if it had been a later track it would of got a 1 or 2, but the early stuff like Nr Brown skanks )

So A by the snot of its nose.

Two pretty good and quite similar lists. The Beach Boys and Buzzcocks tracks win it for A.

The BCB Cup is making my sap rise already. B has been designed to cover all bases and is a blatant attempt to pander to everyone. A has the fekking Beach Boys and Big Star.
A gets it for the Clean.

Both lists I like well enough. Although Desolation Row's better than anything else here, in it's entirety I'd rather listen to ....
