This is just one guy who sent in two lists, isn't it? Nice lists though.

A, but I can hardly tell the difference.

I decided to count how many songs from each list that I was considering having in my own. Which was 7 for B and 9 for A.

B

Althought there have been better lists than these two that have not made it.

Because you're all cloth eared cunts.

I thought my ears were burning. Thanks for that, Pete, very nice of you to say.

I'm saying A, althought there's not much in it. What should we read into two such similar lists making the final? We are all pretty dull?

i've still not quite worked out who's list is who's here but, having gone through each list i found that there were maybe ten or eleven songs that are part of the very fabric of "me" in B's list but fourteen or fifteen in that of A.

A gets 7+, 3 huge + and 5 -

B gets 6+ 5 huge + and 2 -

A is a list put together with an eye to pleasing everyone, It starts off with "The Canon " before it goes anywhere interesting.

B is an excellent list that tails off appallingly at the end, but it doesn't get my goat like A does

so

BBBBBB well done you are the winner

It's been suggested, what with outrages and all that I extend the deadline by 24 hours, so I'll do that.

Deadline is now 10 pm GMT Friday.

Last time around I gave A 110 points. 20 more points for Tracks of My Tears make it 130.

B got 125.

Let's say extra points:

The Tide is High - The Paragons 15
He Stopped Loving Her Today - George Jones 10
Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles 15

So that makes B a clear winner.

Thinking about it further.

How many post 1990? I think it's:

A:

Freak Scene-Dinosaur Jr
Gardening at Night-REM
Tom Courtenay-Yo La Tengo
Gigantic-Pixies
Summer Babe-Pavement
Race for the Prize-Flaming Lips
A Shot in the Arm - Wilco
Let Down - Radiohead

And out of the post 1990 stuff - Practically no pop. No reggae. No rap. Nothing black.

B....

The Mercy Seat - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Here - Pavement
Joey - Concrete Blonde
Nightswimming - REM

Once again out of the post 1990 stuff - Practically no pop. No reggae. No rap. Nothing black.

What probably isn't BCB/Mojo 'canonical' (please note I haven't been given the actual canon despite asking for it:

A

Gardening at Night-REM
Duncan-Paul Simon
Summer Babe-Pavement
A Shot in the Arm - Wilco
The Big Country - Talking Heads
Let Down - Radiohead

B....

Duchess - The Stranglers
Put a Little Love in your Heart - Jackie DeShannon
Here - Pavement
Nightswimming - REM
Fire Woman - The Cult
Trains and Boats and Planes - Astrud Gilberto

Not by white folk:

A...

What'd I Say-Ray Charles From the fifties
These Arms of Mine-Otis Redding From the sixties
Voodo Chile (Slight Return)-Jimi Hendrix From the sixties
Living for the City-Stevie Wonder From the seventies
Pressure Drop - Toots & The Maytals From the sixties
In A Silent Way/It's About That Time - Miles Davis From the seventies
Tracks of My Tears - Smokey Robinson and the Miracles From the sixties

B....

Little Child, Running Wild - Curtis Mayfield From the seventies
Stoned Love - The Supremes From the sixties
Tired of Being Alone - Al Green From the seventies
Good Times - Chic From the eighties
The Tide is High - The Paragons From the sixties

I think I've forgotten my point other than my list was better than either of these.

Anyway. B
