A has this strange habbit of actually getting better with each new 5, whereas B gets slightly worse.

If it didn't have that tedious first three I'd probably like it a lot more, I'm just turned against it by those being the first ones I see whenever I look at it.

Talk about diff'rent strokes - diff'rent folks - I love the first three!

It's A A A all the way way way!

Bis still the best list in the comp. Here's hoping for a Joey vs Jesus I Was Evil final.

Average being the operative word. I'm kinda all out of bile looking at those two lists. BCB has finally worn me down. I'm off to buy some Velvet Underground and a razor blade.

Bloody hell! The 4 worst lists from the quarter finals made it to the semis. What are you lot on? I vote A because I feel duty bound to vote until the end but all the worthy winners (and I don't mean me) have gone.
turn on, tune in, nod off

A

Just a bit more variety. I do like a lot of B's soul choices, but the hip-hoppy stuff really ain't my thing and I found myself crying out for a slab of some great dumb pop looking through B

A. The new five are impeccable and make could have been my picks very easily (though I would have chosen a different Miles, probably, not that I dislike "In A Silent Way"). I'd really like to see A go all the way.

Gonna have to be another tot up the points job. A started with 31, so with the extra choices ...

Pressure Drop - Toots & The Mayals (+3, enacting the full proof Harder They Come rule)
Kids Are Alright - Who (0)
Spanish Bombs - The Clash (+2, very good moment off a great album)
A Shot in the Arm -Wilco (0)
In A Silent Way/It's About That Time - Miles Davis (+2, I've only heard this album a few times but it was sublime from start to finish on every occasion, so it's only relative unfamiliarity that's stopping me from giving a 3)

That's 38

b...
Massive Attack- Unfinished Sympathy (+3, big soul)
Grandmaster & Melle Melle- White Lines (Don't Don't Do It) (+3, whenever that bassline hits in a club, I'm taken higher)
Wilson Pickett- 6345789 (That's My Number) (+2, Stax at its easiest, most at home best. Not at its absolute best though)
DJ Shadow- Building Steam With A Grain of Salt (+2, a lot of Endtroducing passes me by a little but this is a great opener)
Jonathon Richman & the Modern Lovers- Roadrunner (Pts. 1 & 2) (0)
Underworld- Born Slippy (+1, good but only comes to life in the club. Not necessarily a bad thing but it's a bit dull otherwise)
Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terril- Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing (+1, for some reason I don't dig the Marvin and Tammi stuff as much as a lot of Motown but it's still broadly great)
The Clash- (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais (+2, I've dealt with this)
David Bowie- Sound & Vision (+3, my favourite Bowie song, easily)
The Chills- Pink Frost (0)
Jay-Z- 99 Problems (+3, great concept, funny rhymes, blistering beat)
Husker Du- New Day Rising (+2, I see it more as an overture than an actual song but it's fab)
Chic- Good Times (0)
James Brown- Give it Up or Turnit Loose (+2, wicked)
The Exciters- Tell Him. (+3, any girl group sound - be it lost or found - is gonna be rewarded, unless it's shit. This really isn't)
Max Romeo- Chase the Devil (+2, nice choice)
Gregory Isaacs- Tune In (+2, don't actually know it but there's no way Gregory's getting less than a 2)
Al Green- Simply Beautiful (+1, interesting - a mood piece, and quite a great one at that, but it seems a bit odd on a greatest hits like this)
ODB- Got Your Money (+3, for the cojones and because it's great)
The Kinks- I'm Not Like Everybody Else (0)
REM- (Don't Go Back) to Rockville (+3, ace REM choice)
Darcy Clay- Jesus I Was Evil (0)
Bo Diddley- I Can Tell (0)
Little "Stevie" Wonder- Fingertips, Pt II (+2, as a rule, I'm not that into Stevie before his album years but this is great)
Blondie- Sunday Girl (+3, oh yes. Oh yes!)
Love- Seven and Seven Is (0)
Toy Love- Bride of Frankenstein (0)
N.E.R.D-Truth or Dare (+2, bold move at this stage, cracking track)
Impressions- Choice of Colors (+3, sublime, although I prefer the Heptones version!)
Four Tops- Standing in the Shadows of Love (+2, not quite Reach Out or Baby, I Need Your Loving, but almost)

B hits home with a massive 49.
