There's several people that haven't voted for me yet. Should I ring them? What do you think?

I didn't make best loser on goal difference as well, so it's all academic, but isn't it weird how there were 70 + votes on Match 1, 60+ for Match 2, and 50+ for match 3

Erm, what exactly the fuck is happening here?

I (along with many others, I believe) have absolutely no faith in the scoring and its transparency.

Not knocking Tapioca - but I can't think of a more convoluted way to end up where we are. And now we all know who the semi-finalists are. I thought we only disclosed the names of the losers? Now I suspect most of us will be looking to see which list belongs to whom - and then vote.

It was so much better when we just had straight knockouts.

I think Ben made a rod for his own back somehat by allowing the extra 4 latecomers in originally. That said however it was clearly stated how this was to be resolved at this point. There are 3 leagues of 3. The winners going through to the semis, leaving one semi final place up for grabs. This obviously goes to the best group runner up. As they all won one and lost one it is decided on points difference. See ?

This is the case whichever way you do it. Given there was a list of the original entrants and the losers are announced each time, then clearly it is possible to work out who is left in. Plus there have been a few guesses as to whose list is whose as the numbers dwindle.

Yep. you're right Paul. I'm really not knocking Ben - if it appears I am, I'm sorry. But you're right - the problem was allowing the others in.

Anyhow - best of luck to the final four.

If you had the list of original entrants, and took out the ones that have already been knocked out, you'd get those 4 exact same names anyway.

As it did last year.

Well I'm happy just to have got this far. After all, the quarter finals is as far as Arsenal ever get in the European Cup, so obviously it's the most stylish point to bow out of a competition. You sad obsessives can battle for the last four meaningless places.

I would like to echo all the thanks to Ben for his hard work and to say that I've had a lot of fun. I do think though that the results would have been different if we could have heard people's choices instead of being limited to voting just for what we already know. I'm sure a lot of good stuff in the opening rounds got unjustly overlooked because of that. I look forward to hearing as many of the unknown (to me) choices as I can and I expect to discover some excellent new (to me) music. Hurrah!

I'm out - oh well. At least it was close in the end. I also have to give shout outs to the guys that I beat in the earlier rounds.

Beating Goldwax in the beginning was a thrill - because it was a great list and people gave massive props to both, which made me feel as if my list was truly worthy...

Beating modernist was also memorable, for the kind words that he said - and I hope that you've checked out Pills by now!

Then there was Snarfyguy - putting the NY'ers up against each other - well I wish that he'd have gone further.

NOW REGARDING RAIN and HELP YOU ANN - screw those of you that didn't vote for me because of the frequency of these two songs popping up, I had them on my list first - it was the first list to name both songs in the first round - and they are great songs, and would be on my list again.
the Eagles suck.
