As much as it pains me to vote against A, it's B.

Awful thing when that happens. I had a similar experience at a Tom Jones concert.

Two very good lists with slightly different stances (one is more "punk," the other is more "pop") and it pains me to vote against either of them, but A it is.

Either would be a worthy winner however

B, but it doesn't have a very sterling new group of five, I must say.

A just has a couple more tracks that are "personal favourites", but no reflection on B's stellar choices

What he said.

A's just too good. B's pretty wonderful too, though.

Massive Attack- Unfinished Sympathy
The soul song of the 90's - +3
Grandmaster & Melle Melle- White Lines (Don't Don't Do It)
Probably the most hypocritical record ever which makes it all the more fun. +2
Wilson Pickett- 6345789 (That's My Number)
Classic soul song, haven't heard it in years, I'd have liked a more adventurous selection but +2
DJ Shadow- Building Steam With A Grain of Salt
Good, but it's part of the album rather than a stand out track - +1
Jonathon Richman & the Modern Lovers- Roadrunner (Pts. 1 & 2)
Should have had the bollocks to pick the Cale produced part two alone. 0
Underworld- Born Slippy
Great record at the time, little bored of it now. +1
Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terril- Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing
Nice choice +3
The Clash- (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais
It may be predictable...but a great record +3
David Bowie- Sound & Vision
Yes.+3
The Chills- Pink Frost
Looked for this on a comp..but couldn't find it.0
Jay-Z- 99 Problems
Don't know it. 0
Husker Du- New Day Rising
Bit dull. -1
Chic- Good Times
Yes. +3
James Brown- Give it Up or Turnit Loose
Great record. +3
The Exciters- Tell Him.
Can't recall it right now...think i have it somewhere.0
Max Romeo- Chase the Devil
Don't know it. 0
Gregory Isaacs- Tune In
Nice. +1
Al Green- Simply Beautiful
ok. 0
ODB- Got Your Money
0
The Kinks- I'm Not Like Everybody Else
Nice choice. +3
REM- (Don't Go Back) to Rockville
One of their best. +3
Darcy Clay- Jesus I Was Evil
Is this country? Trying too hard. 0
Bo Diddley- I Can Tell.0

Little "Stevie" Wonder- Fingertips, Pt II
Would have prefered a later track..still it's certainly infectious.+2
Blondie- Sunday Girl
Their most insipid single. -1

I make this a pretty impressive 31.

Again, it pains me to vote against A's list again cause it's seriously ace, but i think he got a really bad deal being drawn against the 2 lists in Group A. Of course others might disagree with me.

I disagree. He's lucky to be up against a list that only got 18.

List B is stronger than A. I'll vote for B on the strength of Pavement, Big Star, the Supremes, and a sweet Al Green track.

A.

edit: I seriously don't see how one could vote against this list. From Husker Du to Al Green, it's all here, and if that's tokenistic then so am I.

Possibly the greatest song ever written. Also the 2nd song this person has lifted from my wonderful list. I can't think of this list losing.
