I really don't think I can choose - seriously. I don't think I can do it, and I don't think it'll be fair. Even after some thought.

I'll look at the lists again tomorrow, but this is well-nigh impossible. The closest match yet.

B

I think out of all the lists so far this was the toughest to choose. I went for B because there's one or two songs I really like.

Both very strong with a few weak patches, and overall I think B has just that extra bit of class.

Hard to argue with that, except to add that "Jesus I Was Evil" is a lo-fi classic.

B

B wins for me, too many killer tracks

Delays was an odd choice for A

Throughout this, A's been one of my favourites. B, however, is chock full of fantastic stuff. Inspired at times.

Both lists are excellent but i have to go with A.

Sorry Mr Magnum PI, but i just couldn't vote against the Lyres, VU, The Only Ones and The Sonics. :(

Damn...good lists folks. I struggled with this one. A wins by a whisker. I'll vote for A on the strength of the JL Hooker, VU, Funkadelic, White Stripes, and Maytals tracks. Good job.

Round 4 Group A Match 1

Very close but A has more killer, less filler - at least as my taste is concerned

Greatness from A:

Satisfaction – Rolling Stones
Fontella Bass - Rescue Me
Holidays in the Sun – Sex Pistols - best choice here
Good Times Bad Times – Led Zeppelin
Brand New Cadillac - Vince Taylor & His Playboys
One Nation Under A Groove – Funkadelic
Pills - Bo Diddley - great great great

Questionable choices from A - may be fine but better songs by artist available:

Fox On the Run - Sweet
Cupid – Sam Cooke - great song but so many better choices available
Shaking All Over – Johnny Kidd - better versions of this song available
Rain – the Beatles - a very average pick
Rock and Roll – Velvet Underground
Gates of the West – The Clash - good but better available
What Becomes of the Broken Hearted? – Jimmy Ruffin - best Ruffin but there's better of this ilk
Monkey Man – The Maytals

One man's top pick is another's trash from A:

Do You Realize? - Flaming Lips

No opinion selections from A:

Sookie Sookie – Grant Green - not heard it
Boogie Chillen’ – John Lee Hooker - before my time. I'm not much for black man's blues to be honest
Another Girl Another Planet – the Only Ones
Help You Ann - Lyres
Long Time Coming – Delays - who??
Hardest Button to Button – White Stripes
Have Love Will Travel – the Sonics
10 AM Automatic – Black Keys
The Only One I Know – The Charlatans

Greatness from B:

Grandmaster & Melle Melle- White Lines (Don't Don't Do It)
Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terril- Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing
The Clash- (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais
David Bowie- Sound & Vision
Chic- Good Times
The Exciters- Tell Him
Gregory Isaacs- Tune In

Questionable choices from B - may be fine but better songs by artist available:

Wilson Pickett- 6345789 (That's My Number)
James Brown- Give it Up or Turnit Loose
Max Romeo- Chase the Devil
Al Green- Simply Beautiful
The Kinks- I'm Not Like Everybody Else
REM- (Don't Go Back) to Rockville
Bo Diddley- I Can Tell
Little "Stevie" Wonder- Fingertips, Pt II
Blondie- Sunday Girl

One man's top pick is another's trash from B:

Massive Attack- Unfinished Sympathy
Husker Du- New Day Rising

No opinion selections from B:

DJ Shadow- Building Steam With A Grain of Salt
Jonathon Richman & the Modern Lovers- Roadrunner (Pts. 1 & 2)
Underworld- Born Slippy
The Chills- Pink Frost
Jay-Z- 99 Problems
ODB- Got Your Money
Darcy Clay- Jesus I Was Evil - probably this man's trash but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt

God this is hard. Both have 7 greats, 7 choices I would not have made & only 3 , what I'd call rubbish choices among them. I'd like this to be the final. Based on the overall quality of the "greats" it's B. but it could be a different choice tomorrow if I did this again.

B. He'll have to do a hell of a lot to fuck this up.

Okay but these have to be the weakest two left, surely?

Tallying - A just - 21-20.
