A for Half Pint. Though there's a few other Half Pint stories I'd pick first.

The Rolling stones covered one of his songs you know?

Both pretty good, but I'm going for B.

I am the anti-geoffcowgill here...I don't like either list today and have to rule in favor of A due to the impressions and the kinks.

C.

Funny, I thought I was in the "BCB Cup" section.

However, I've clearly strayed into the "Elitist Pseud" forum.

you're right DD, both lists do seem to be willfully obscure and anti-bcb. not sure how they've got this far! i only voted for A because it had the kinks.

I'm going to have to follow suit. First time this year I've not voted.

Me too. I just don't know either list.

Same here. Too unfamiliar with the songs on both lists to vote fairly.

There's plenty of stuff I don't know on lots of the lists; I just vote based on what I do know.

Odd that neither seem to be trying desperately to claim a contested contest - both of these are really idiosyncratic. A is more my cup of tea.

anti-BCB? List A has four wonderful tracks on it

Rainy Day in June is a mean, mournful Kinks tracks that I love
Zig Zag Wanderer is pure Beefheart pop music
Walking Up a One Way Street is just one of the great Northern Soul tracks
Mr Landlord I've never heard
Fool For You could well be my favourite Impressions song ever!

What the fuck is so elitist and anti-BCB about this music?

What you all mean is 'It's not music that I like...BOO HOO HOO'

If I had more conviction, I would've posted something like that. Without the swearing, mind. Agree with all that Kal said- even the Beefheart track is essentially really catchy R&B (in its old form) fed through Beefheart's crazy approach. The fact it's from the only Beefheart album I feel like playing (his debut) is another clincher. But for me the Kinks and Impressions tracks swayed it in the end- Rainy Day in June is from the Kinks' best album and very mournful track in its own right and the Impressions track is superb.

I like the Sly and Drake choices on list B, so it's not all bad.

Sorry if this sounded snarky.
