Hard to fault any of A as songs, well apart from the Band obviously. And it's a nice beatles choice.

A is probably 'better' but i'd rather listen to B, more exciting, less familiar and a lot more funky

A is pathetically canonical, if this is the sort of shit you have to like to win this thing it's sad.

Not bad songs but just a narrow choice of music from a short era.

Sorry if I offended the poster of A, but I'm sure they picked these songs more with an eye to winning than anything else. Even I pick a song or two from outside the 80s.

B because ACDC rock
And if you tolerate this then your children will be next

I agree. A it is.
The absolute worst thing anyone could say about you is that you were a selfish, moral blank, whose lazy cynicism and sneering, ironic take on the world encapsulates everything wrong with a generation. But you my friend are not evil.

I find these lists impossible to separate - I'm going to sleep on this one.

For that reason I almost vote for B (well put, Owen), but I can´t vote against a list with "Into the mystic" on it.

A it is.

Yeah, A is canonical and all that, and I'm sure B would be more of a musical discovery for me but, hell, A's got that Into The Mystic-Gimme Shelter-Crying rock solid three song core. Plus The Temptations, ahhh but minus Bob which surely is too familiar.
And then B's got the 1,2,3 of The Axe, Hathaway and Mr Dorsey. Oooh it's close you know.
Ah but then B's let down by ACDC and Bowie (Station to Station?! Purleease!)

So I'm going to plump for..........

Ah shit........ I'll decide in the morning, This one's very close.

 Does not compute

How can list be let down by having the mighty DC on it

I seriously thought list A belonged to the duck. Into the Mystic gets me every time...so A it is

close shot, but B it should B...
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

B is more interesting, but A has completely solid songwriting.

I'd probably take the Associates and Bowie songs in B over anything from A. But there are moments where B loses me. On the other, A is suffocatingly canonical, but extremely solid, with no obvious weak links - there's a better Prince song and a great Costello choice too.

A gets it though I have regrets in rejecting B
