Killing this section

Postby The Prof » 21 Jul 2005, 16:01

It's just taking up space. So sooner rather than later it ought to go. If anyone as any objections, lets hear them.

I don't mind but.. I was thinking of maybe starting up another one in a few weeks. So it may be worthwhile keeping it

Something along similar lines would be great - I'm not so sure about exactly the same thing again myself, -but it's not my call. But that would be a reason to kill this totally and start again fresh, no?

What, pray, would the new one be based on? We've just had a 'top 10 bands' thread and there's a big list somewhere of a lot of people's top 20 albums, so there wouldn't be the all-important element of anonymity if it were either of those.

We were thinking of getting posters with less than 5000 posts to wrestle alligators.

It has always been on my list of things to do to go through and copy all of the lists down before this section vanishes.

If anyone is able to go through and post each list with whose it is would be great, but failing that, I hope the section has a posted expiry date before it vanishes altogether.

People put a lot of thought into their lists, well, some did, and I have not heard half the songs here.

You seem inordinately concerned about bandwith and memory today. prof.

It was something Jethro mentioned, I just thought I'd put some feelers out that's all.

We should definitely do it again, but a few weeks is a bit soon isn't it? The last one was only 3 months ago, if you leave it another 3 or 4 months you'll see more interest. IMO.

chains myself to the thread and threatens to kill myself if it's removed!

Seriously, please dump it. My 15 minutes of fame expired months ago. My ego has returned to normal and i'm back to making uninteresting posts.

And a lot of people put some effort into comments and posts (as well as the standard 'B' and 'A' replies), so yeah I agree with LMG's sentiment here.

It really was an interesting experiment, and I think it showed, more than any other example at BCB, what exactly poster(s) use to define their tastes in music and their values system and the like. Plus, it was scarily addictive.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

If you should delete it, it would be great if you could keep the "there it was" underneath- it makes no sense, so fits perfectly.
