Both lists have great things. A is better though, and it's hard for me to vote against the Poppy Family and Dusty Springfield.

Not sure about kicking off with Led Zep, doesn't seem to fit the rest. Unless JPJ is on the Dusty track or something.

Irma is the difference. One of only two tracks from my notional all-time top 50 singles to have been included in any list (apart from mine :) )

So that's a B

both good
It's kinda depressing for a music forum to be proud of not knowing musicians.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I always liked B, and that feeling remains; actually, both of these lists work well, but:

R. Dean Taylor - There's a Ghost in My House listen
Pentangle - Travelling Song listen
Dusty Springfield - Magic Garden listen
The Poppy Family - Free From The City listen
X - White Girl listen
The Isley Brothers - Footsteps in the Dark listen
Frank Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim - Drinking Water listen
Minnie Riperton - Les Fleurs listen
Stereolab - Metronomic Underground listen

List B

1. The Rolling Stones - If You Can't Rock Me link
2. Machines of Loving Grace - Golgotha Tenement Blues link
3. The Guess Who - Laughing link
4. Joe Strummer - Love Kills link
5. Dream Syndicate - Tell me When It's Over link
6. Irma Thomas - Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand) link
7. Iggy & the Stooges - Sick of You link
8. Nirvana - Love Buzz link
9. Ride - Furthest Sense link
10. Badfinger - Baby Blue link

Two good lists, well done to both.

Man, i love that B's come for a fight here with a heap of rock, tracks with a very personalized feel to them. i'm thinking that if you had just dropped in another soul cut, or maybe a pop or jazz track to spice up the flow it would have helped your cause no end. As it stands I'm afraid your list might be a little too 'rocky' to appeal to many voters. But brave brave choices - a Stones track from a period when many see them as being in decline, Nirvana is poison ivy to many too, as is a band like Ride. But I really dig that you made those choices.

A, you know I love most of those tracks... but it has to be said that i think you've gone into your shell a bit here. If you're gonna pick 'Agua De Beber', why not go with Astrud's earlier, transcendent version rather than Frank's nice but superfluous re-tread. Wary of the foreign-language backlash? And the Minnie and Stereolab tracks are fine, but so very BCB safe too. I don't blame you - with only 10 tracks you've got to make every post a winner, and when you're in the semis you can almost see the gleam on the edge of the Cup already. But I know you had the reach to do better here, and take at least one more adventurous shot. Good luck from here.
