Both have their moments, but A is a bit more involving and doesn't have that KLF thing.

Seriously mixed bags with too much worthiness in both for me to really get behind either one altogether.

A has that pretty good Jimmy 'Bo' Horne thing - will look out for that - and a cool BOC track that's been a favourite for a while. That Richard Thompson number is becoming a bit of a well-worn Cup fave but it's pretty good stuff. And the Bubble Puppy track is nice. That's about it. 'Breakfast in Bed' makes me want to kick something. And I'd like to kick all of Go4.

B has some choice Wolf, Fairports, Dylan (might be my very favourite by him) and Feelgood. But the Brel thing is a real nightmare, a torture to sit through. And Townes - well, I've been told there are good songs, but that one certainly isn't one of them. Maybe one day I'll hear one.

B takes this one.

B wipes the floor with A, just better all round. Like the cheeky inclusion of KLF, the way Glenn Hughes screams his head off always makes me laugh.

I like how the second list has clearly drafted G in as an advisor but A has more I like.

A is a good and well-sequenced set of songs with so much to commend it. But it is tactically useless against B, which deploys the heavy Sandy Denny artillery at just the right time. And that Sister Sledge-Bob Dylan final pairing is after my own heart; and therefore A's fancy fortress falls to the cheery rubicund savages while the more adventurous and brazen

This is pretty tough. I really like most of B, but I don't like that Jacques Brel track. I don't know, A has a lot of solid entries but that that Holly and the Italians track is starting to wear out its welcome and I'm not quite convinced of the greatness of the BOC track.

B has high highs, and loooowww lows. It's full of BCB couture, but takes a few shots across the bow toward individuality. A is solid and steady. It offers a mix of styles, deep cuts, and canon.

In the end A reflects my tastes a lot more.

2 really good lists. This one's gonna have to go to the emoticons...

List A

The Chakachas - Jungle Fever link :)
Holly & The Italians - Tell That Girl to Shut Up link :)
Jimmy 'Bo' Horne - Dance Across the Floor link :D :D
Blue Öyster Cult - Transmaniacon MC link :)
Dusty Springfield - Breakfast in Bed link :)
Sun Ra - Plutonian Night link :D + :D bonus for having a jazz track
The Bubble Puppy - link :)
Gang of Four - I Found That Essence Rare link :)
Ali Farka Toure/Ry Cooder - Lasidan link :)
Richard/Linda Thompson - I Want to See The Bright Lights Tonight link :)

List B

KLF, America What Time Is Love? link :)
Dr Feelgood, She Does it Right link :D :D
Howlin Wolf, How Many More Years link :D
Terry Callier, You're Going To Miss Your Candyman link :D
Fairport Convention, Who Knows Where The Time Goes? link :)
Jacques Brel, Ne Me Quitte Pas link :x

The Royalettes - It's Gonna Take a Miracle link :D
Sister Sledge, Thinking Of you link :D :D
Bob Dylan, Bob Dylan's 115th Dream link[/quote] :D :D

Really close. Despite some faves like the Jimmy Bo and Sun Ra on A,in the end i think B just gets its nose in front with Wilko cutting shit up in glorious fashion on that Feelgood's cut. With apologies to A...

yes, two very solid lists, I had to do some serious clicking with A, but it paid off, only one stinker - The Gang of Four, so A handily. Attention all players: you do not have to include any post punk to get MY vote!

Some good things on A - Bubble Puppy, Jimmy Bo Horne, Sun Ra - offset by a peculiar Dusty choice and the overfamiliar Go4, while BÖC is one of those things I just don't "get".
B has a strong midsection with Callier, Townes and the Fairports - although the latter are another hoary old Cup warhorse now. Dr Feelgood is one of those things where a fiery performance can't hide the utter ordinariness of the material. The Royalettes is nice, though not really top-drawer, and Sister Sledge are another example of an artist who are probably good at what they do, but just don't aren't my thing.
I really can't decide. For the first time this year, I've got to abstain.

A has certainly improved (can't see what the problem is with the excellent "Breakfast In Bed"). But B has improved even more.

Despite it being the list that beat me, and therefore total shit, It has to be B really. A just isn't up to much.

Townes Van Zandt, Waitin Round To Die, link
The Royalettes - It's Gonna Take a Miracle link
Sister Sledge, Thinking Of you link
Bob Dylan, Bob Dylan's 115th Dream link :D :D :D

Two good lists I wish these hadn't been drawn against each other but against some of the greige still floating around

Difficult as it is to vote against he first sighting of BOC this year I would have rather had a later - ST onwards - work it is too easy to go for one of their earlier psychrock things

B

Bob Dylan's 115th Dream is an inspired choice that I have toyed with in the past and Dr Feelgood just match the Gof4

And then the B list is stronger and doesn't include Sun fuckin Ra

B
And if you tolerate this then your children will be next
