Two idiosyncratic lists...

A is solid BCB obscurest crate junk...but then we get Sheila E and Mott the Hooples patchy Thunderbuck Ram. nearly the highlight of their first three Island albums..

B is interesting, building to an enormous climax with Can , Sly, Roxy and Jimi. Undeniably great great music, and more than too good to bury A with ease. And that is before you ad in Traffic and the Sound. The Massive attack track will have to go though. It just sounds SOOOOOO dated, leaden and dead.

B
there are things that I say I should consider, before I talk.

A! not a single song have I heard before.

B! you chose the only truly bad song from all of those first four Roxy Music albums. Well done!

I'll still go for B even tho' you need your head testing.

I didn't like that Goat LP but there's enough good things on B to get the nod.

Y'know, some people might slag B for being "obvious" or "unadventurous" or whatever, but whoever they are, I think they must have similar taste to me, because I love every track there- that's a seriously quixotic Sly & the Family Stone pick, and he picks some of my favourite Traffic, Roxy, Can and Massive Attack tracks. A fine list indeed.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

I can't really fault any of the tracks on B, it's a good list that will probably go far, but there's a wide range of cracking stuff on A that is completely new to me. You should join the BCB Mix Club.

So A please

Too much nonsense on both- Fibonaccis? Seriously?- but B is a lot more fun. The Los Mirlos is great, but otherwise? Something does not become more psychedelic or cooler 'cause it's from some exotic place or is little-known. A bad Kinks imitation is still a bad Kinks imitation.

B, on the other hand (despite that Massive Attack nonsense) actually goes somewhere interesting when it strays from the safe- and even the safe tracks are great. And yes, I have to resign myself to the fact that I'm a Goat fan.

Both good lists that close on really strong tracks - that's a great Mott the Hoople pick. Goat notwithstanding (nor that goat-on-a-tripod bassline in the chicha track) I think

I admire A's depth. However, I think a well placed canonical choice would have strengthened your list. As it is, it seems a little holier-than-thou. I am generally inclined to reward adventurousness, and I do like the Fugi, and the Greek freak out guitar, but little else here gives me the emotional lift I get from Spaced Cowboy, or House Burning Down, musty though they may smell. In particular, the Fibonaccis, and Sheila E get the gas face. :x

With apologies to a too-clever-by-half A, it's B for me.
Freak out. Far out.

Two fine and interesting lists for me. B has some long time faves, no doubt about it, but A has got a good mix of sounds as well that need supporting.
