There seems to be a lack of energy around this particular tournament.
Is this a good or bad cup, thus far?
It's kinda depressing for a music forum to be proud of not knowing musicians.

I think this week things have got delayed for various reasons. Hopefully the second round will kick start things again tomorrow.

I'm interested to see how it will work with the new format now - it should give it a renewed impetus.

Yeah, the list issues this past week seem to have caused a lull in interest, but hopefully things will pick up again when round 2 kicks off and we see the new format in action.

In the end It was actually easier than i thought to cut a song for round 2. I love every tune i put in my list, but I decided what should be replaced pretty quickly and went for it.

I think I've spotted about 4 different people's lists too, and am looking forward to seeing how they go about their substitutions.

Yeah, I was surprised too how easy it seemed to be. I applaud Andrew for the new format.

I've decided this year not to sweat the selections. Last year I spent an age stressing about covering as broad a church as possible only to be blown out of the water by making one "bad" choice (which I stand by, of course). This time, we're mixing and matching, so the choices seem more disposable. I'm happy just to get 10 tracks I can stand by out there.

Bring it on. All round 2 matches this week should reignite the Cup fever.

if your list didn't appear in round one can you still amend it?

I was hoping to see the bye lists as people suggested, but that doesn't seem to be happening?

You can if you wish, but it's not compulsory.

Sorry, I was going to do this, but I've had an interesting weekend which has meant I've been away from my computer. Let me have my tea, and I will post the list.

Does that mean people who have byes alter their lists if they get exposed? Otherwise what's the point of posting them if they can't?

How many years has this cup be running?
What is the Prog Cup - worth entering?

The first cup I remember was 2006 or 2007 I think. But I could be wrong. I just remember I was slow to hear of it and tried to enter but the lists were full. I've entered every year since 2008 I think...save one where the spots filled up seemingly overnight and I found the lists full and couldn't play. I believe I've voted every year regardless of whether I was playing or not. It's one of my favo(u)rite things about BCB, next to Jolly Ups and the Secret Santa exchange.

I like the bizarro cup personally, but if you like Prog, then the Prog Cup is presumably worth entering. I took the time to actually LISTEN to lists and voted it in it once, but my votes were thrown out as I wasn't playing so I've never given two fucks about it (or Prog in general) since. But if Prog's your bag, I can't see why it wouldn't be worth entering.

I want a post-punk or punk cup myself. We had sort of mini competitions held casually in both once on YY, but there wasn't much overall board interest. Sort of explains why I've never won the cup too. Not much overall board interest in my lists.

I am planning to start round 2 tonight. I don't think we have to wait for the winner of the extra tie for that.

Hopefully the Cup will gather momentum now. I've posted four new second round ties; I am still waiting for a handful of revised lists, so please send me these if you haven't yet.
