T Berry Shuffle, as I recall.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Fair bit of Larry Young groove suddenly this year. Interesting.

Yes, more Larry than you would expect.

There's also been a few showings of the same tune, which doesn't happen often. (Unless the lists are all blurring into one middle-aged guy's lastditch attempt at eclectic cool.)
Good.

Although I realise that I can never pass the 2nd round of the BCB cup, for the first time I can honestly say that I've gone out to a list than is NOT better than mine. The tracks by Vashti Bunyan, The Dillards and the Jayhawks are distinctly average and the rest seemed to be in the Baby Huey territory that Copehead so rightly castigated.

I was bemused by some of the comments, along the lines of Bowie, Hawkwind and Dinosaur Jr not having any place in the BCB cup. For the record, Hawkwind are worth 100 times more than all the obscure 60s psyche dross that gets advocated here. I suppose one shouldn't take a pot shot at the organiser, but Penk you really should pull your head out of your arsehole. Is the BCB cup like a masters degree course, where you have to study what has been included in previous years' lists?

At the end of the day, it's the taking part that counts ............

 Yeah, 'cause I was the only one who commented on that.

You don't need to study the Cup to get far, but there are certain songs that are red flags to quite a lot of people...

Vashti Bunyan is a cunt.

It is wise to do a wee search to see how often a song has been used previously. I don't have a problem picking songs that have been used before and I even pick songs that I have used before because they are some of my favourite things in the world....but......some songs have been picked so many times that regardless of how good they are some posters will pick the other list. I can understand why that would be annoying but people approach voting in different ways and it's not just about The Best Songs.

People seem harder to please than ever this year. It's like seeing a load of people behind a desk with their arms folded, with stern expressions saying 'please me'. I think I've only had one really positive comment in three rounds!
Perhaps I'm a victim of my own success and people want to usurp me from my role as BCB's chief tastemaker!

quick question: if you had planned to include a song in your list in a later round and then your opponent used it and it got a lot of praise would you still use it as planned?

Regardless of whether you had it on your list, you'd get flamed for unoriginality. The cup is unforgiving in that way.

You had 'Kyrie Eleison' on your shortlist too then?
