Awful thing when that happens. I had a similar experience at a Tom Jones concert.

Not a single song I'm familiar with, and just a couple of artists I know of.

A gets the vote after a quick listen to its tracks as it's more my kind of thing - upbeat 60s RnB.

B for the Cookies and Brains – two grand tracks, although I'm voting more for the sound Dr Know got on the 12" than that live show

A must think this is the R&B/Soul Cup. :)

Anyway I like it better. Sorry to B.

Two WILDLY personal lists - one from a person trapped in a Wigan Cas*no time warp, the other from someone who chose the first 10 tunes that came up on their "shuffle list for loons" playlist. :)

Both fun, but i'm going to Wigan for an all-nighter.

B - despite getting the artist/song order wrong on the Bad Brains track which annoys the OCD of me to no end.

Lots I've not heard before, but there's only so much northern soul I can bear. B
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

don't get me wrong, I love the other list, too, but you gotta cast your net a little wider for The Cup
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

In one corner northern soul, in the other world music.

A straight slug out and a difficult one. I have a wee secret thing about Northern Soul but I also love the diversity of world music.

In support of the Oscars boycott I have to go with the world mix.

It's not as if B is that diverse itself. So it comes down to which one gave me more enjoyment and/or more surprises. The answer is A on both counts.

B is far too something for me, although I do like the Parliament track.

A is a bit too much of a one something, but it hangs together well enough, and it has a stand-out track in the Gene Latter. That's aces.

Not much wrong with A but I'm generally swayed away from lists that are this narrow. B is obviously after the esoteric vote and is probably a bit too clever for its own good, but I liked that Taieb track when it appeared before and you have to applaud some of the more out there choices.

Again, I'm tempted to go with a theme list, for A's pleasing Northern Soul Selection. I particularly liked the Willie Tee song. B starts nicely with its first two, but it's downhill from there: the Cookies one is nowhere near as good as their best-known effort, the German one is nice until the comedy vocals come in, and Bad Brains are rotten. Quite amusing to hear Evert Taube but I'm giving it to A.

A is a one-trick pony - not that I dislike the pony in question, but it's nowhere near

which gets my vote for the fact alone that it includes only 3 songs in English - and everything (apart from the interesting, but musically godawful Bad Brains track) is bloody marvellous!

Well done, my favourite list so far!

And I love Evert Taube!

A IS a one trick pony, but it's MY trick. It's like it's doing his trick Just For Me.

Pony Trick A for me

(Though I listened to the B list first, and thought it was going hands down for B... so I'm FICKLE.)
