I actually liked the Futureheads although needless to say the original is better. The Blondie track is undeniable, but whilst I didn't hate anything else it really didn't wow me either. Hege V was fine if a bit generic but come on any Steve Earle or Dwight Yoakam track (and I do mean ANY) beats it hands down. I don't mind the miserableness of the Interpol but for stuff like that to work it needs a sense of fragile beauty (cf Mark Kozelek) Ultimately that was just dull.
Dusty and Nina are of course perennial cup safe bets and Doug did record other great song you know.

Too safe and I actively dislike both of their voices and that's my opinion.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

List A is largely in the section marked "not my cup of bovril", but redeemed itself with a great Nina Simone track. That Júníus Meyvant thing was surprisingly good, too.

List B plays it a bit safe, picking some obvious tracks for the artists in question, but Interpol and Burial just pack a bigger punch than A can deliver.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I like the vibrancy of B with the first three picks and the closing Blondie. The Burial track is another great pick.

Starting with two tracks from Nuggets is so BCB Cup! Neither are among my very favourites from the set, but 'Kingdom of Love' is ace and I quite liked the beardsmithery of the Meyvant. The second half is safe but pleasant.
It's good to see B going for a modern approach and though it's a mixed bag in terms of quality, I'm tempted to reward it. I think on balance, though, I'd like to hear more from A.

Yeah, I like that Junius-track a lot too! That one is the tie-breaker for me here!

Another match in which A came from behind to snatch a late victory.

A 19-15 B

B was Ray K.

A, I need your next three songs now, please.
