I am nothing if not consistent, having stated in previous years a propensity for voting against any lists including the "crowd pleasing" Saint David, so I should be able to avoid the wrath of Hatz, and Motorhead are meh at best to me, so despite Cold Blood (excellent) and Hathaway (undeniable) A takes it despite the conceit of specifying 12" versions. I actually like both those songs anyway, cheesy for sure but so what, and the Richman is great. A

I really like A. Have a vote, A. B is OK, but nothing inspiring.

I really like both of these - shame one has to suffer the first round Cexit. A is narrower than B but its songs are a tad better, maybe.

And suddenly B is supposed to ignore these great tracks just to prove they're not 'cashing in' on the sentiment? Does not compute. Besides, the Iggy track is great and, if anything, underappreciated here, the Three Degrees and Hathaway tracks are wonderful, and A, despite the nice Richman and Pogues picks, also gives us 9 boring minutes of Soft Cell and "Buffalo Gals" which has never been more than a cute novelty and isn't worth hearing the third time, let alone the thousandth. (And last I checked, McLaren's dead too. Are we supposed to finger-wag about that too? I can't keep the rules straight. )

Chill out, it was a throwaway comment not a blitzkrieg. No more censorious or wounding than anything else I read in every tie. It's just a bit of fun, right?

David Bowie made good pickable songs before he carked it, and his influence among the posters here hangs over us like a lunar eclipse, to dismiss them now as crass or as some sort of emotional ploy is just silly.

It's a draw! 16-16! Could someone do a quick recount just to make extra-specially sure?

Well then! ¨

A 16-16 B

Both contestants will need to send me a list of three songs to be put forward in a one-off 24-hour shootout for a place in the next round. The three songs will be dispensed with after the shootout, and three new songs added to the original list. The lists in the shootout will remain anonymous until one is eliminated, and it will not be revealed which of the original posters sent them until the match is over.
I will PM the two contestants to make sure they get their three songs in soon. I can hardly contain my excitement!

But yes, it is all, including my rant 'just a bit of fun'. I was never unchilled.

So one of the contestants has looked at the thread themselves and spotted that the very naughty or forgetful sloopjohnc had managed to sneak in two votes for A, which means that the score in this one was in fact:

A 15-16 B

Therefore the replay is off and A, whose defeat is embroiled in controversy and scandal, was Griff.

B, you can now send me three new songs to be added to the original list.
