Both, it seems, quite personal lists with nothing much recognisable - I wonder if this is what we should expect from the Cup this year....

A is just a bit more my flavour, but I can't see it going very far.

Cripes! These are coming from completely alien places to my home turf. I've played several links and am still none the wiser. I'm dangerously close to abstaining already. Will come back.

Decided the strange shapes of A, while decidedly Not My Bag, are better than B, which has too many things I'm strongly against.

Despite then absolute beauty of downtown in B's picks, their only saving grace in my option, A is blessed with a beautiful mix of experimental magic.

The sounds of silver apples, psychic tv and one that i will now seek out in the form of Nobukazu Takemura make A a sure fire winner.

20116 is the year of eclecticism.

List A
The Chameleons - Up the Down Escalator https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sL-wu5oa1w

List B
Genesis

A obviously.

Though I liked this portion of B,

    X – I Don’t Wanna Go Out
Velvet Underground – Somebody to Love
    Bauhaus – Modulor
    Petula Clark – Downtown

I love Chameleons. So...sorry.

Good old themed lists. So adorable.

The theme of A, unfortunately, seems to be unlistenable shite. Seriously, there wasn't a single thing there I'm anxious to hear again. As George Harrison supposedly used to say, it's a whole lot of 'avant-garde-a-clue'. And I'm well past tired of Silver Apples. They never were much to begin with. Give me Lothar and the Hand People any day.

Would that B had spent a bit longer finding more exciting songs (and I'm not sure how "Downtown" fits into the scheme of things - am I missing something obvious?), but it has a few nice ones - that's a pretty wild version of "Somebody to Love" by the 'other' VU, for example - and that's more than enough against A's grate-fest.

ABSTAIN

I can't even declare a winner with the oft used phrase (if only for "insert artist name here") 16 tracks and I don't particularly want to hear any of them again. If tied to a chair with a gun to my head - Psychic TV

A is eclecticism for eclecticism's sake...made it halfway through the Japanese clip and sat bored through Melt Banana and Movietone. Silver Apples and Chameleons rescued a lot.

B wasn't nearly as interesting but it was better.

 Really, B? Were you that bored that, with all the lists you could come up with, you had to go the "No, not them" angle?

Well, to be fair, i didn't mind a couple of those tunes, and seeing X there made me smile. The Genesis wouldn't play though for me. And overall, i found it more fun than A, which was a bit of hard work, especially the longer mood pieces. Sorry A.

OK! This one's got me bumfuzzled. An odd match indeed.

Only like a couple of tunes from A - but I really LOVE the Movietone. Hadn't heard it, and it's great. Lovely guitar.

B - I like more from it, but.....the Movietone is worth all 5 of 'em. I couldn't find anything other than a non-descript snippet of the Genesis tune on AMG, but in the end, it doesn't matter.

A had higher high points, but drops in a sea of Not My Thing
B was good. grand. and all the way listenable.
