There aren't that many shows announced that far ahead but I've noticed a couple of good ones.

Mon 07/06 Mudhoney at Bowery Ballroom or The Bell House on Sunday the 12th
Thu 07/09 - Waxahatchee at Pier 84 (Hudson River Park) - that's a free show, not sure who else is playing.
Sat 07/11 The New Pornographers at Prospect Park Bandshell, that's another free one. I'm pretty sure I'll be going to that.

Definitely worth checking in nearer the time!

I'll be at this one too let alone all the benefit shows and at a few more free ones. I get VIP for these shows, my friend works for Celebrate Brooklyn.

Oh nice, they seem like good people (I did an email interview with Jack Walsh last year on an old website I used to write for). If you want to grab a beer then let me know!

Yes Jack is a nice guy certainly knows his music. BRIC is doing some great stuff too and their new space in Brooklyn is really nice and has two small concert venues with nice sound. Saw Joseph Arthur with MIke Mills there last year.

Always up for a beer lets see what the schedule is like then.

Had a look during the week, options are either Stiff Little Fingers or Mingus Big Band.

If you like jangle-pop then there's an Aussie band called Dick Diver playing on the 7th, pretty sure I'll be going to that

4 Knots has a good line up this year too, but I think I'm leaning towards the New Pornographers: http://microapp.villagevoice.com/4knots/2015/bands.php

It was fantastic. We had food upstairs then went down to the club. Seats were at the front inches from the sax players. One guy was making his debut, he turned up was introduced to the band. The bass player was the leader and he called out the numbers of the tunes they would be playing. At the start of each one he would give instructions as to time, solos etc and away they went, a
Though they playing from music they cut loose many times and then would bring it all back together with a nod from either the main sax player or the trombone player.

It was spellbinding at times, this was no half baked tribute act. It was a full blown living endorsement of Mingus music.

What was also cool was when I was in Barnes and Noble above TImes Square. I had on my Coltrane's Sound tshirt, big black guy walking past me, nodded said "yes" and gave me a big smile. Which was nice.

Excellent! I've heard good things about that band from others as well.

Jazz never makes more sense than it does in New York City.

Coltrane's sound is a favorite of mine as well ...

If you get a chance to see them don't miss them. Griff is a big fan of them.
