As a Brit I really, really, REALLY hate that. Almost every pasty-faced, semi literate, moronic chav on Jeremy Kyle uses it, ad nauseum.

You watch Jeremy Kyle ?

Yes, PIppa forces me to watch it...

If you're in Newcastle go to The Crown Posada, which is right beneath the Tyne bridge.

Israel advertises itself as the "Jewish State." For you to dismiss that factor is a feat, I think. More importantly, for better or worse, Jews don't forget it. Israel does equal Jews. Criticism against Israel is often perceived by Jews as something against Jews. Something in the brainwash shampoo. You ignoring that bit of the equasion is a good thing if progress is to be made but, no offense, however true on your part it is hard to believe on mine.

Jimbo, no offence mate, but you are trying to look through my eyes but with your own attitude.
Terrorists are terrorists, regardless of religion. The fact that Israel murders Palestinian and Lebanese people has as much to do with religion as Irish people (not so long ago) murdering British people i.e. fuck all.
The only difference is that Israel's terrorism is state sponsored

I really don't care how Jewish people view my criticism of their homeland. I know there's nothing anti semitic in my view and that's all that' important to me.

Watching the London leaders and their proxies unite against a simple democratic measure tells me all I need to know about the UK in any form. Their interests are not Scotland's interests.

I learned today that not only are you all not very pleased with the Olympics but that "whinging... is part of the national condition."

Also that the torch relay was inspired by Nazis.

 It most certainly is. Whenever I phone family in the UK I have to endure 30 mins of constant whinging about the country going to the dogs before I can make my excuses and hang up. And they wonder why I don't phone often!

We do love to whinge, it's true. But as I said earlier, when it's done with humour, it's one of our most likeable national traits.

Nothing brings people together more than a good moan. Nothing puts a distance between you and the people around you more than my-life-is-great positivity.

And it's infected BCB, reading Random Thoughts.

I can hardly wait 'til the second week of competition from our London brethren.

Man, if they had the Olympics in the Bay Area, I'd be all over it. I could drive 15 or 20 minutes over to Stanford and see the water polo and swimming, because I'd bet that's where they'd probably build a new facility (the current one's not bad but not big enough).

Of course it would take you three hours to get there - while being passed by Olympic Organisation 'Zils' in the 'Olympic Lane' and the tickets you had gotten through the lottery system would be for the show jumping on the other side of the country anyway - otherwise, yeah, wicked!

:)
It's a load of bollocks - it's only a bit of sport and everyone's acting like it's the second fucking coming! Madness! And all of a sudden I've got 25 (currently) empty Olympic digital channels on my TV - where did they come from? And how are they going to fill them all - and when they do I bet the main channels are still annoyingly full of Olympics crap.

I'd leave the bloody country if I could

I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

You can't get the tickets. It's just one big corporate event for the benefit of foreign property speculators and various Tory bigwigs.
Still I'll be watching Danny Boyle's opening ceremony tonight and even starting a sync watch thread which I hope you'll all join me on.

btw. you're not a real sports fan because you don't get football.

I guess you figured you couldn't be subtle writing to an American.

I think soccer players should just get over it and wear dresses.

Their fans too!
