While reading about Kirk Douglas (RIP), I read about his association with Jean Spangler whom I'd never heard of and whose disappearance is quite the mystery :? :

He was on my list of heroes (I think we have the same birthday) but just today I've heard several references to this and other unsavoury matters that are a bit worrying.

There's never going to be an end to the RA.
I remember when my old Dad was in hospital and him snorting with derision when I told him about the Good Friday Agreement.

Northern Ireland

Dissident republicans suspected of Brexit day plot to blow up ferry.

Northern Irish police say bomb was found on lorry after tip-off about device at Belfast docks.

Det Supt Sean Wright, from the PSNI’s terrorism investigation unit, said: “It is clear from the information available to police that dissident republicans deliberately and recklessly attached an explosive device to a heavy goods vehicle in the full knowledge and expectation that it would put the driver of that vehicle, road users and the wider public at serious risk of injury and possible death.”

He added: “Had this vehicle travelled and the device had exploded at any point along the M1, across the Westlink or into the harbour estate, the risks posed do not bear thinking about.

“The only conclusion that we can draw is that once again dissident republicans have shown a total disregard for the community, for businesses and for wider society.”

I'm not sure this specific case casts him in too much of a different light - although the "Dear Kirk" note is very odd to say the least. The NW story on the other hand is to me pretty damning.

How many people died from the (regular) flu in 2019?

In total, the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died.

You wanna get persnickety, Chuckie? Well, m'lad, this "regular" flu epidemic is happening now and in the US and all these people are sick and dying now and not over a year.

at least 19 million people in the U.S. have experienced flu illnesses this season, the CDC estimates. About 180,000 people have been hospitalized so far, and an estimated 10,000 have died. Sixty-eight children have died this flu season. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/as-th ... 2020-02-06

And my point is not to make light of any illness but to show how we should not fall prey to hype, which leads to a loss of perspective because the narratives we are being fed nowadays are mostly utter bullshit. Hell, I'm not sure that there is even a real flu epidemic in the US or not.

Francis Boyle: Wuhan Coronavirus is an Offensive Biological Warfare Weapon

You may wonder why Professor Boyle is being interviewed by a guy in Kazakistan and not the BBC or NPR but what he is saying is so different from what we are getting from our big media they'd be calling themselves liars if they showed what Boyle has to say. But this guy literally wrote the book about bio-warfare and clearly sees the truth.

If you click on a picture of Bridge Over Troubled Water and put your finger over Paul Simon’s face, is looks like Art Garfunkel has an enormous Cossack tache!

Have you checked out the little old woman that Neil Young is carrying in his haversack on the cover of After The Gold Rush?

The works of Shakespeare and Dickens were banned in China until 1978.

As a schoolboy, I would have wanted to move to China if I'd known that.
