No. I think the author David Neiwert is correct. This election is not, as is often repeated "a referendum on President Obama" - it is a referendum on FOX News. Do enough voters really agree with the agenda of this influential & opinionated media powerhouse to vote accordingly? god help us all, I hope not.

No. The expectations on him we're always too high, he was always going to disappoint to some extent, and he had to inherent a hopelessly run economy. Presidency is all about shades of grey.

Is his polling THAT bad (-2%) to merit a pasting, Sneelock?

Obama's numbers are as high as Reagan's at a similar point in that presidency. what's even higher are the people getting paid to talk about him.
I'm of the opinion that Obama and the Dems brought a lot of this on themselves. By not channeling voter outrage over bailouts they fertilized the soil for what we now call "the tea party"

while others put the bolts in that creature's neck, I think O. & the Dems were asleep at the switch and provided those people with the juice that gave that creature life. still, I think even if the Repubs were to win only one seat the mainstream media would stick to their story that it was a shellacking and reflects poorly on Obama.

... and that Obama needs to, you guessed it, move to the center!

The answer is "no."

As Snee pointed out, Obama's numbers are higher than Reagan's and Clinton's were at their first midterm election.

Why the apocalyptic predictions, then (esp. given who he's up against)?

Democrats Could Lose Up To 8,000 Seats In Upcoming Midterm Election

Good satire on how the media creates self-fulfilling electoral prophecies.

Of course he deserves a kicking. He's just another tax and spend politician.

No, the government that governs least governs least. We've tried governing least and it didn't work.

Huh? You would expect my Libertarian beliefs to be shaken by swirling winds? And recessions are a natural and unavoidable reaction to economic excesses, the most recent of which were aided and abetted by government policies to encourage home ownership.

You call that trying? Invading a country half a planet away isn't exactly a hallmark of minimalist government you know.

Reagan used to speak of "tax and spend politicians" then shifted the tax burden to working class people more than ever before!
people cry about Obama as he actually shifts it back! a "grassroots movement" snarls as he does this.
it's MENTAL!
