I know plenty people who favour independence and whilst I am undecided I'm starting to think that Scotland and England are simply too different politically for Scotland to become the kind of sociey I envision if we are continually tethered to our southern neighbours.

Independence will happen someday.

I would seriously think about moving to Scotland to avoid the prospect of a permanent Tory government in England.

That's if they would have me.

But, correct me if I'm wrong, Jim, any referendum held by a Scottish government would be for consultation only, it would not be binding upon the Government of the United Kingdom. Only a Westminster-endorsed plebiscite could be linked to the drawing up of the necessary bill to cede independence for Scotland.

God, this is dragging on. Win's the "popularity of the people" in the face off's against Gordon and tosspot, then promptly sees his party lose seats at election. This is the nearest he'll come to power, but now has decide between the 30 pieces of silver or the pound of flesh offers.

I prefer to do my work behind the scenes, M. I'm sure you understand.

Really though. Finally - FINALLY - I get to enjoy that politics degree and abuse the connections formed way back then.

For what it is worth, I think it is the wrong decision too. I would have enjoyed watching Labour combust under the pressure of minority government. trying to dig themselves out of the ever deepening pit that Gordon so kindly dug for us, whilst constantly bickering between themselves, and having to depend on that raving lunatic Salmond to get anything thru parliament. It would have been very funny to watch.

As it is , at least there is some hope that the economy will get some attention. Altho I am not optimistic to be honest.
