Convincing start for the boys - not without the odd hiccup but more assured than England I reckon.

England didn't go off the boil, which must have pleased them, one try in each quarter.

Wales started like a train and then ran out of puff and drew the second half against a team you'd expect to flag at that sort of intensity. Good to see Patchell playing again. Not convinced by our back row without Faletau in there.

No one has looked wholly convincing other than Ireland perhaps who were back to their old strangulating ways

Even NZ were only good in patches, but they were very good in patches.

SA looked like they were keeping their powder dry for later on in the tournament oddly knowing they won't meet the ABs again till the final.

Australia looked flaky, but scored some good tries.

At this stage I'd say, who knows.

Loving Japan.

I don’t know why I’m always surprised by them because they were great 4 years ago.

I dare say Ireland ain’t beat yet tho

Yep, they are.

Complacency, picking your third choice FH.

All credit to Japan for knowing a winning strategy and sticking to it so heroically, but it couldn't be much of a surprise as it was similar as to what did for another team of big lumps 4 years ago.

So that has to be a serious black mark against the Irish management.

Fancy Scotland to beat Japan as they play a similar style and have better players.

Then I suppose it comes down to who beats Samoa by more points in the draw to see who loses to SA and NZ in the QF.

New Zealand must be praying they don't get Ireland though, because if Japan have a game that beats big old slow teams Ireland have a game that beats New Zealand.

great weekend of rugby!
in some ways I feel the better team lost yesterday and it does feel as if the welsh often hang on a thin thread but huge respect to them - i've quite fancied the wallabies as potential winners of the tournament and that was a big win. quite a few sore welsh bodies today I would imagine and christ knows what will happen to Biggar now - although all credit to Patchell who did a great job.

I had a flashback to Darkie's Mob in Battle comic when I read that. It was 1976 again.

Aiiieeee Darkieeeee! they used to shout as he shot them.

Anyway well done Japan and well done England first team to qualify, maximum points and biggest positive points differential, if they go up another gear vs France I think people will start to worry about playing them.

You're American your team didn't even get a losing bonus point and were the biggest disappointment of the whole tournament.

No pretending to be Japanese here.

That's because they were homeless alcoholics shanghaied from under a Seattle bridge and promised $16 per day to go to Japan and play in a bugby or something like that tournament.

The All Blacks crushed Ireland and England looked strong against the Wallabies - sets up a great semi final next week - would have been a fitting final really
