Reconciliation

Postby GoogaMooga » 12 Oct 2023, 22:02

I've got bowel cancer with metastases to the liver and I haven't got long left. If John Coan thinks I will let him torment me till my dying day, he will have to think again. I've put up with thirteen years of his snide remarks. Because I love the English language and I love to write. Luckily there are other platforms where people know how to behave and don't take delight in playground bullying. Thank you and goodbye.

Jesus Christ, Googs! What dreadful news. I’m sorry to see this and hope you can find comfort and peace.

Shocking news, Googa. I hope you can make the most of what time you have left. Enjoy every second, and take comfort from your nearest and dearest.

I am so very, very sorry to hear your news. I've never met anyone on the board, but there are certain individuals who you tend to bond with, keep an eye out for their posts, and you are one of them. Please take care and don't waste your time listening to Air Supply ;)

Again, thank you all for your sympathy and concern. I want you to know that Coan has sent me a PM and given me a formal apology, which is quite a game-changer. It wasn't Coan's last remark in Screenadelica that did it, but the sum total. I've invested too much in BCB and I am close to 30,000 posts, so I will stay. :) That doesn't mean I need to be treated with kid gloves, please continue the light banter and the mild sarcasm. I may have a few years left and I have accepted that. Just sorry I have so many unread comics and books left and so little time, so I must prioritize. :)

John, if you are reading this, I want you to know I tried to answer your PM, but you had disabled "reply". Peace out, GoogaMooga. :)

Horrible news Googa, and I’m very sad to hear it. You take good care.

All the best, Googs.

I have always found that whenever 'real life' intrudes on our trite musical and whatever else arguments, that we have each other's backs. You, me, and everyone else here is ultimately among friends.

And I will definitely clink a glass to post number 30,000. :D

Thanks, all of you. Very kind of you. Yes, every day counts now, but it is also important, I think, to go about your daily life the way you are used to, with nothing periods, too. Otherwise it becomes a race against time, could be stressful and perhaps even detrimental. If anything good has come out of this, it is that my condition has compelled me to open a book again. And read it cover to cover. :)

Thanks fange, good to hear from you. I meet a lot of cancer patients now at the hospital, and some of them have lived with it for years. So that does provide a little hope.
