Talking to technology.

Postby The Prof » 29 Sep 2023, 11:18

Is it an age thing, or is it just me? “Alexa..play this../.. play that” It just seems weird talking to yourself in an empty room. The technology has been with us a few years and I can't say I've got more comfortable with it.
I can see a benefit to disable people, but does anybody really like talking to devices? - and don't get me started on voice recognition telephone systems.

I steer clear of anything like that Prof, prefer to get up and turn things on and off myself in order to keep all the moving parts moving. I can see how it would be an advantage to others less mobile though.

The only language I use when addressing tech thingies is not fit for print.

My boss sometimes voice-records text messages and I have received some doozies in the last couple of years.

Yes, there are uses, but not for me, yet.

Try being Scottish and using voice recognition.

With the rise of feminism and all that 'me too' bullshit, these new technologies have become a necessity. I preferred it when my requests were promptly adhered to by real live women.
